The vouchers started in the paper yesterday so am looking at a 4 day break in Brittany. Has anybody any been there and have knowledge of what it is like. We need a quiet place with shops, restaurants and bars not disco type bars.

This'll be the same cheap holiday that last year cost BG £100 for an extra stopover and £100 because he's incapable of reading a parking sign.

It's a lot like a French Cornwall, weather won't be much different to back home. Don't expect Costa De Sol type resorts. For a short stay somewhere not too far from St Malo might suit you. Im assuming you will have your own transport?

I heard she has a tendency to shave her head. £9.50 is a bargain though

Concarneau was nice but that was 20 years ago. Don't think you can go too far wrong if the weather is ok with 4 days you might want to stick to north side e.g. St Malo as suggested earlier.

Not much happens anywhere there this time of year. Be aware though that virtually EVERYTHING shuts on a Sunday.

The parking fine is still being contested and the £100 for the extra stop over wouldn't have been had we chose to stay at the site rather than halfway home to find that Enterprise had repossessed the pub we had booked at. Nobody would have known that . However you learn by your mistakes. Once booked I will enquire as to the cost for an extra night or 2 and if not France is very well served with budget hotels like Premiere and Accor.

Saint Malo, Dinard and Dinan are all very pleasant, all situated on the north coast around the Rance Estuary. Not sure if you get many options with a £9.50 holiday, but if you're in that vicinity then it's a nice spot.

There are 2 or 3 near St Malo and a couple near Brest. So taking your words may settle for St Malo which also means not much driving after coming off of the boat.

Dinard is fabulous and the whole coast is superb for shellfish, if that's what you like. The Pipe Festival at Dol de Bretagne is superb a true coming together of all Celtic fringe pipe music from Asturias to the Orkneys. Oh and Bretagne cider is the best in the world, they drink it from tea cups (with saucers) , very quaint and lovely.

No good can come of a nine pound fifty holiday with the exception of your review of it

Not sure if they still do it but Brittany Ferries used to do some great winter offers in Gites. We used to travel Portsmouth to St Malo and book somewhere in the Loire valley. Visit some Châteaus during the day and wine, cheese and a log fire at the Gite in the evening.
