Does anyone know? What security steps are taken to sreen your cases once they are checked-in. Can they be x-ray? Or are they just loaded on. This was asked many times yesterday on radio phone-ins,yet no satisfactory answer was forthcoming. :albion:

Interesting point if you have to put your ipod, camera etc in your suitcase, which you have to do now, they are not covered by your travel insurance if some pikey working in baggage control nicks them

Check with your Insurance company before you go!!!!

Way out west
I have only ever lost one thing, to my knowledge, from my baggage when flying. That was a hockey ball from my stick bag, disappeared either at Dusseldorf, Paris, Jo'Burg or Cape Town, not much when you think about it but annoying nonetheless.

They x-ray them.

We flew back to Ireland about two years ago and had two bags full of screws and three sets of studs for horse shoes in our luggage. The check in girl took our cases on the conveyor belt thing and off we went. A while later our names were being called over the tannoy asking us to report to the desk immediately and when we got there we were escorted to a private interview room to explain what was in our cases. Heh.

x-rayed

coming back from euro disney once, mother stupidly decided to place my replica pirates toy gun in the suit case. needless to say it showed up on the machine, she very nearly missed the plane and the gun had to travel in the pilots cabin
