Trouble erupts after England game


The muted atmosphere in Lisbon contrasted with England
Police across England made 83 arrests after fans rioted following England's Euro 2004 loss to France.
Some 400 people were involved in disturbances in Croydon, south London, where police were pelted with missiles and 12 people were arrested.

Hundreds of hooligans hurled missiles and bottles at cops in CROYDON, South London.

Fourteen people were arrested and two officers were taken to hospital with minor injuries.

A Metropolitan Police spokesman said: “Four hundred people were involved in a serious incident in Croydon.

“They were slinging missiles and bottles at police. A tram was attacked and some police vehicles were targeted.”

Hollingbury Park Avenue was overcrowded with cars last night so I has to park mine in Ditchling Road. I've done this loads of times and never had a problem. I don't use it for work and my wife has just rung to say the passenger wing mirror has been smashed off and there are dents in the bodywork. I could hear shouting in Ditchling Road after the pubs had shut but I didn't think it was going to result in this.
