The Field of Uck
Groundsmen getting artistic with grass cutting - It's a football pitch not a work of art - stripes or squares only. Don't want it to look like East Sussex Asbo's work after a 16 pint lunch!

I agree but just not at football.

When the Bears Basket-Ball team used to play in Worthing a few girls in my class at school (seems ages ago now) were cheer-leaders for them...That was cool as that is where they belong, in american sports.

Albion & England forever.

Oooo, I dunno. It's a multi-use, community stadium remember. It could double as a Coliseum, half time entertainment could be watching them scamper around the pitch with wild animals after them.

On a serious note though, I heard a Reading fan on Radio 5 before the season started decrying the club's increasingly 'plastic' reputation (his words). All the 'innovations' that seem to come with a new stadium appal me, as they did him;

Cheerleaders; any form of orchestrated goal celebrations, not just the playing of music; anything which dilutes, detracts from or Americanises the game during a football match. While the Albion are not using the stadium they can do what they like, just don't turn us into a clone of all these other bloody clubs who've over-sanitised the experience so it feels less like football and more like a picnic.
