I wish I was.

We are going to Malta at the beginning of May and the 2 weeks will pass all too quickly

You might not be yet mate....we've got a week booked in Corfu for the first week in May and i'd say it's 50/50 at the moment. They're saying that this ash cloud could be around for months now !!!!!

I know plenty of fellow teachers stranded and they are in a bit of a panic. My colleague is stuck in Egypt which means I have to cover all her lessons over the next few days :(

Some friends are stuck in Libya. I've just been to their flat to feed the gold fish - and picked up the post from the mat.

Top of the pile was an invitation from the Icelandic Tourist Board to come and see a live volcano !

All UK airspace closed until at least 0900 tommorow so its already been way more than a 24 hour thing.
Also when Airspace does reopen it is dependant on the weather. If the wind changes and brings the ash back they could close airspace again. Planes/crews are also in the wrong locations.

If the already erupting volcano sets off the other Icelandic volcano nearby things could get a whole lot worse for a long time.

I read it erupted for two years when it when off 200 years ago

Does any of the weather experts on here`have any ideas how the weather has to change to take the ash away from us. From what i can see on several weather sites, we're stuck in the middle of this big high pressure and it don't look like shifting for the next week at least

Couldn't see anyone bulk buying fruit and veg in Tescos just now so i thought i'd buy up all the sprouts that were on sale

Had another look at the Jet Stream forecast. Looks like it might shift next weekend allowing westerlies and low pressures in.
