Stupid decision. The team isn't that good and needs an infusion of new talent which Moores was trying to encourage - except he was cut off before they had time to build a new set-up. The others are getting old - Anderson won't last for ever, and Broad is inconsistent so they need to start looking at a replacement opening bowling attack (not Finn), a proper spinner (Moheen Ali isn't good enough unless he has a helpful pitch), and still need another opening bat (assuming Cook retains his place) . Need more competition for places as too many are retaining their place on reputation rather than actual performance (Cook, Broad, Ali, Trott (as was), Jordan, Stokes, Bell).

An assistant is going to manage the Tests against NZ! Surely the ECB have lined someone up already to take over before doing this?
