Today was poor, no doubt. But frankly it was going to happen at some point. We have played nine games in a month, with a very small squad and a lot of young players. Thats a lot to cope with. At some time it was inevitable that the bubble was going to burst. but that is no reason to call for the manager to go for goodness sake. I am confident they will bounce back on Tuesday and still be in with a shout going into the last couple of games. We need some luck and to keep free of injuries but we can still do it.

Today is what makes football so frustrating and yet so great all in the same way. Sadly we were on the receiving end.

By the way what was the woodwork count, three, four or five?

One twat kept saying get him off to every player today.

I agree on the fatigue factor as it was obvious today and I hope DW knows how to pick up spirits for Tuesday as I haven't a clue.

Four - 3 x crossbar (one by us so nearly OG:eek:) and a post

I couldn't see who headed our near own goal ( family stand ), but font of all wisdom that is my nipper says he thinks it was Elphick. Can you confirm ?

Tommy does seem to like doing flipper style diving clearing headers.

It's hillarious isn't it. I had a quick chat with The Large One on Tuesday night about the effect that negativity on boards like this can have on the players. I hope all these numpties feel proud. They seem to enjoy the defeats more than the victories.

They're not down. That's the whole point - they were battling to stay in the division. It's a funny time of the year Swansea lost at home to Bournemouth which is a far greater shock. Look at West Ham beating United at Old Trafford last season. Ths kind of result happens season after season, yet the knee jerk reactions of the dickheads on hear is to slate the same players they have been lauding for the past few weeks and call for the managers head.

Think it was Elphick but not sure, I kept giggling everytime they hit the post and could not score

Thanks for that.

Looks like stato was spot on again.

Always makes me giggle when I get a tap on my arm at games to be told that the sub coming on for _insert any old team_ came from _insert any old team_ and scored..." ## goals last season in all competions, # in the league and # in cup competitions ......" and I've never even bloody heard of him !

I worry for the boy sometimes

Some of the comments on the board after the game today beggar belief.

Before some of the moaning wankers get on my back - no, I wasn't there. I listened to it on the radio and received about 20 texts during the game from people who WERE there.

On the back of what the players went through in March, it's hardly surprising there has been a blip today, however much we wanted the run to continue.

I just think people need to chill the f*** out and try and support the team until the end of the season, instead of spouting hysterical abuse after one, admittedly poor, performance.

Some of the PERSONAL abuse on the player rating thread was pathetic

At 2-1 after they hit the woodwork for the umpteenth time who like me thought maybe luck was on our side and we were going to win after all.... oh bugger!

I wish some peeps would remember their posts at the start of the season about relegation being big prospect,we're just outside the playoff's,with a small squad, having spent pretty much feck all.
In many ways I wish our run in had been against all the top sides, instead of the bottom 2,these would always be harder games against teams with nothing to lose.
Even if we got to the playoff's,which we still mathmatically can,we arn't a championship side by any rose coloured glasses, and who knows what a few non league signings may do a year down the line.

Stop making excuses.

IT doens't matter about what we thought at the beginning of the season. At the end of the day we found ourselves on the morning of 5th April in a fantastic position to get a win and move further up and increase our chances, regardless of where we thought we'd be x months ago. Reality is, on the 5th of April we didn't perform nearly well enough and through it away. Whetehr we were 1st, 11th or 21st I think we'd all expect ourselves to beat the bottom team. It doesn't matter that they had freedom to play however they wanted, that they're playing to be snapped up or whatever, I want our players to take play offs more seriously. We have something huge to play for and we didn't perform. There is no excuse. It doesn't matter how many times they hit the woodwork, because we gave them those chances and even after that saving grace we through it away! Saying 'its going to happen' doesn't wash with me either. We can't look at it like that. Arsenal didn't loose in a season, if they had lost to someone they should have beat with say 6 games to go I don't think it would be exceptable to say ' oh well it was going to happne'. Fact is, it doens't have to and its no excuse.

Don't you think they take them seriously?

Do you think they wanted to play poorly today?
Cause the players dont take it seriously. They don't want to go up, thats the only reason we played poor today. The players are far happier playing in crap stadium in the third division, rather than doubling their wages and playing in top stadium week in week out in the Championship. Cor, I though that was obvious! That's were we went wrong today.

Well said Hiney. Must admit if I had one gripe today ( apart from our performance ) we really could have done with Guy Butters on the bench today. The defence seemed in a right panic after conceding 2 early goals and we really could've done with him coming off the bench and adding an old head to calm things down.
