Stop The Finger-Pointing and Post Mortem

For goodness sake.

The season isn't ended, we're not down yet.

None of us know the full goings on, it's just guesswork.

EVEN, if we did miraculously find definitively the single action or person that has cause dit, how will it help us now if in the meantime we go down?

It's not helping in the slightest and its largely pointless, I understand that obviously its a natural reaction to want someone/thing to blame but it's gone too far. It's like vultures.

We will, undoubtedly, find out more in the summer and we can do a proper postmortem then. But, seriously, can anyone explain what the benefit of doing it now is?

Because it's a Brighton and Hove Albion message board and it beats talking about forks , dogs , suit colours or any other non Albion rubbish

Would be impossible to talk about our club ignoring it's current situation, unless we talk about Falmer

Because most of us feel the season is all but over already. Too many unlikely results needed between now and May 2 for me to even think about safety.

Maybe we care and just want some answers..why would a team go from 7th to more than likely being relegated the next season

No the season is over yet, but we are six points behind with an inferior goal difference and nine games to go, so I know where my money is going.

One or two do know the full goings on - they are the people on the board. They have a variety of media to explain why they made the changes they did last summer, why they delayed taking a decision to remove Micky Adams, why it took so long to find a replacement manager and what their immediate plans are now that relegation looks a racing certainty. I can't say as I feel swamped by the rush of information from them.

It's called accountability. They might be the board but I do genuinely consider myself to be more of a stakeholder in Brighton and Hove Albion than any other organisation. I have given (literally, given - I don't mean for tickets, merchandise or even the 'advertising' that player sponsorship brings) money to a plc and whilst I don't expect a say, I do expect a degree of candour and transparency at all times. This has been sadly lacking this season.

Overall, I think the reaction both on here and at Withdean has been remarkably restrained which to me is more dangerous and reeks of apathy and growing disinterest and alienation. The board/club need to realise this and start engaging with the fans. The next couple of years were going to be tough enough anyway in the current economic climate, going down to Div 4 playing quite frankly appalling football could put as back on the margins of survival, Falmer or no Falmer.

Great post, I too also fear we may be lower L2 next season + I agree with everything else you've said

If you wake up one morning and there's a puddle in your kitchen, you mop it up, then the next morning there's a bigger puddle, a bigger puddle the morning after, and every morning this puddle is getting bigger and bigger, are you going to just wait and see if your house is going to get flooded, or are you going to find the source of the leak so you can try to stop it happening?

I know what I'd do.

Because alot of us are struggling to remember a more shambolic management of a season since leaving the Goldstone...

Seems like the players threw in the towel a long time ago.

They may huff & puff and run around a bit (some of them) but they look clueless and are now accepting that they are among the 4 worse teams in this division.

This to me is the most worrying thing and in the forseeable future i cant see either changing

9 games to go and effectively need to gain 7 points on the sides above us. Even at 1-0 down , I was thinking there was a glimmer of hope in getting an equaliser but that scenario was blown out of the water when the ref gave the penno and sent Heath off.

Still, could be worse: we could be without Heath & Elphick for the next 2 games plus..

So are you actually enjoying digging through all the shit that's happened? Is it actually helping the club? No...

To use the puddle analogy, yes, when the last puddle happens you're going to want to know where it's coming from, but not before mopping it up incase it spreads and damages, and also so you can see (on a non-wet floor) where abouts its coming from to help identify. And that's what I think needs to be done, mop up the puddle as it were.

Yes, we're all supporters and yes its a message board, but we're brighton fans and the negativity is not helping. fact. I'm not saying ignore the fact we're in relegation zone, but is having numerous threads ' is xys to blame' ' did abc do this right?' ' it all went wrong when mnop did this' help anyone. No, it doesn't.

Why not try and do something positive, talk about the upcoming game, think of ways to increase attendance and atmosphere etc etc etc. But otherwise it's just a downwards spiral and the whole club has lost heart.

Before I make my next point I do conceed that effectively we're paying the players, but as you said we're larger stakeholders really!

People moan that the players have no heart, but isn't it hypocritical of the fans to still not get behind the team. okay, you might think ' well I pay their wages, ill get behind them when they give a crap' but in the short term that really isn't going to help! Surely you want Brighton and hove Albion to be in league 1 not 2 next year, then sort out who will be playing.

People critisize saying (without any evidence or any specifics whatsoever) ' I saw the players out' as if to say how fickle they are, but isn't it hideously fickle of supports who are bigger stakeholders to turn on people so quickly when we actually know very little.

You might say that you complaining shows you care, which i'm not going to deny (other then the ones who moan regardless) ... but imagine there was a player who really cared about the club but something was making them unhappy with the way things were going, would you really want them moaning all the time bringing everyone down? Yes, to a degree, it shows tehy care. But it isn't constructive. I think most fans would say ' they should just get on with it then worry about it later'. I do want the current players to give a shit, definitly, but I don't want them or Slade going round saying ' oh, we're down anyway, Knight should leave, the backroom needs changing, the club is full of dead wood' etc etc. I would want them to be fighting till the bitter end... that's what we expect in a match. When were 3-0 down we want them to keep playing for 90 + minutes.

As I say, I conceed the point they are professional and are paid, but a loyal supporter will always care more then a player, always. And in some ways, its needed, or (as we see in ourselves) we get too emotive and irrational. but even still, we have our role to play, and I sincerely believe it will really help if we play that role.

Yawn.
I'm totally alienated by the vocabulary used by this fella.
Perhaps I'd agree with him but doubt whether he has been around very long.

By the way, disinterest does not mean lack of interest. University education means nothing nowadays. GRUMP GRUMP

I'm not sure you got the puddle analogy.

The whole point is to identify the underlying problem by figuring out what is wrong now, not wait and see if it's going to be a major problem in the long run.

That's why the finger pointing sand post mortems. We're trying to identify what is going wrong now, so it can be dealt with before we get relegated, rather than waiting til the end of the season to know for sure relegation awaits us.

It's not about fun, it's about dealing with issues now before they turn into disasters.

those fans like me who have watched most games this season have every right to feel shit and state that we are going down, oh and we f***ing are going down. We are incapable of stringing 2 dear i say 3 wins together and having a team that will gel and shutout when we go ahead.

All of the above will lead to Relegation, maybe we should have forseen this when we drew away at Lewes in pre-season:shrug:

I have forks of different sizes, no idea why though. Discuss.

My dog, which is black, is going grey. What makes dogs go grey?
If it was a white dog, how would I know?

In my closet are several suits of differing colours. I like to have variety, and the tie rack is loaded up with nice silk numbers too. How about you guys, don't you find a simple single black suit a bit one-dimensional?

Anyway.... I agree Dougal, it's why we come onto NSC.
