Same for Great BritainThe past few weeks are the latest example that makes a mockery of the term United Kingdom. It's anything but – and doesn't look like it will be for a LONG time...

Same for Great Britain
Sadly, with this lot in power, the words "United" and "Great" are getting further and further away from reality.
Definitely 'No'. If they hadn't effectively made every asylum seeker illegal then the process would have carried on as it was, with slow but methodical processing of the backlog and relatively few small boats.Re-establish safe routes and invest in effective processing of claims.
The problem with that (or any solution) is that in fixing the problem they lose their only means of guaranteeing they keep getting their base to the voting stall and ticking their box. They have nothing left but stoking the "culture war" and this is the main thrust of it.
With that in mind, do the Tories actually want to fix it? I'd wager no
Make Britain Great again
These days, if you say the words "Great" and "Britain", you get arrested and thrown in jail.Same for Great Britain
Unfortunately enough people fall for it every timeI’d settle for sane and tolerable tbh.
This smells to me like “the wall with Mexico” was to Trump, get everyone rabid and all eyes focused on it, even if legally dubious. It doesn’t matter if it passes or not, just as long as it sets out a contentious position and keeps people angry and fighting among themselves.
Let’s not fall for this divide and rule nonsense again. It leaves us with politicians like the current lot.
If they REALLY want to get this done, why not fly the planes over to France, round up these people from the camps and THEN fly them to Rwanda? Cuts out the 'small boats' thing right away...The central tenet of the Rwanda policy is that it will act as a deterrent to migrants, i.e. stop the boats.
Since the policy has not been tested, this is an act of faith. How can the government be so sure?
To 'stop the boats' in the future, you have to stop the boats now. All of them.
Will migrants still take a chance and risk being taken to Rwanda? I would have thought that some will and some won't.
I suspect the ECHR would have something to say about that !If they REALLY want to get this done, why not fly the planes over to France, round up these people from the camps and THEN fly them to Rwanda? Cuts out the 'small boats' thing right away...
You think that lot would give a shite about THEM?I suspect the ECHR would have something to say about that !
Only to the extent that I believe the ECHR has jurisdiction in Calais....You think that lot would give a shite about THEM?
I'd be interested to know what your views and opinions are with how the lefty Labour Party would deal with this issue. If anyone thinks they can put a stop to it then they're deluded.
What camps? The French police destroy any camps they find. There hasn’t been a camp since Sangatte was closed. If they REALLY want to get this done, why not fly the planes over to France, round up these people from the camps and THEN fly them to Rwanda? Cuts out the 'small boats' thing right away...
The ruling today was at pains to point out, the scheme is not only unlawful via the ECHR, but also the United Nations, and three existing British laws.Only to the extent that I believe the ECHR has jurisdiction in Calais....
But who needs human rights? Sunak promised to return a migrant to UK if a court decided the government should do so.
It's a safe bet he was referring to UK courts and not the ECHR.
