It might have helped if Baldock had actually tried to block Grealish's shot in the first place - I always thought Stockdale was wrongly blamed for that goal.

Nope, however you look at it, Stockdale needs to put his hands up to the mistake, it was down to him fair and square. Not a difficult save for a Sunday league goalkeeper to make, let alone an experienced Championship one.

This never ends does it.

We don't know the details. There are so many possibilities and in the end, he chose to go to the championship to get a decent wage instead of whatever lay around the corner with us. We don't know what his contract terms would have been, if he'd have been number 1, we don't even know what he knew. We just know he didn't stick around.

We know he was only offered a 1 year contract and we know the club were bringing in Maty regardless of if Stockdale stayed or left.

This is true, maybe I was being a little harsh ignoring the failure by the whole team over those last three games but if he had saved that shot we would have been Champions.

Yeah it's definitely a shame it happened. I do wonder sometimes if Stockdale blames himself.

Both him and Kuszczak are training with the youth, not Birmingham's first team. Their present manager doesn't want either of them.

Worth noting perhaps, how the Pig's journey into football oblivion also started with a move to the very same club. Although that was preempted perhaps by his alleged tete a tete with a certain Senora Garcia.

Not sure I agree totally - I think we were going to sign Maty, and as a result DS was told he’d probably be no 2 (and only get a 1 year contract) so, with his agent, worked out that he’d get more money, a longer contract and potentially more game time elsewhere so he jumped.

Agree he might look back and regret it though. Club got it right to be fair, Maty is a better keeper.

Yes indeed, hindsight is a wonderful thing. We all have choices to make in our career, let's not berate him for doing what he thought was best at the time.

Could someone explain why Stockers going to Wycombe is any different to Ben Roberts coming to us on loan in 2003 - a former top flight goalie moving down the leagues (originally on an emergency loan if I recall right).

Withdean's a damn-site worse than Adams Park, and that relationship with Ben hasn't turned out too badly for us, has it?

Bad really despite what we think of Leeds, he is a massive Leeds fan though i think, so would probably take the offer even if slightly lower than he wants.

So actually a dream move for him.

It isn't only his decision though, Dirtty Leerds would have to agree to pay a large chuck of his already sky high salary.

Agree, it was a spiritual moment as in the ball went right through David like he was a ghost. Very disappointing, last kick of the season losing us the championship. Ow well, maybe in another 115 years...

Because we were in the Championship then.

Yet nobody berates Dunk for allowing the player to actually get a shot away.

Just watched the highlights, not sure Dunk can get the blame for allowing a player to get the shot away!, Maybe Stephens? But Stockdale made a horrendous error.

Baldock should have scored, we should have beaten Bristol City the week before, but let's all blame Stockdale.

Whilst I blame Stockdale for the error, I agree that the Championship titlw as lost over the final three games of the season, defeats to both Norwich and Bristol City, as well as the draw at Aston Villa.

The result perhaps of partying too hard after winning promotion, and/or thinking the title was as good as won.

 Why Not? His job was to save the ball going in the goal! On that occasion he failed and it cost us the Championship.

But no doubt he contributed getting us to that final game though good performances through the season as did the other players.

Also as said, the last few games we were pretty poor. So the whole squad should shoulder the blame, but he made the final mistake.

I like Stockdale, it's just unfortunate that goalkeeper mistakes usually lead to goals being conceded.

Ok, we'll forget the flying save earlier in the game.
