Someone else mentioned to me how similar this season feels to 1990-91. In that season whilst we were good we were clearly not as a good as the teams that that eventually got promoted, but still made the play offs and were one good from the top flight.

This season we are making a good job of beating teams we should whilst failing to beat any of the "good" teams. This suggests that our position is about right and that play offs will come. Just hope we can buck the trend on 1st December.

Ah, but I prefer to look at the table through a different set of specs i.e. with my rose tinted spectacles I ask what should the result have been and then it looks somewhat different altogether (all subjective.)

Huddersfield were in sixth place when we beat them. As were Sheffield Wednesday.

I'm talking about current top six teams. At this stage of the season we can start to see who the teams to beat are and so far we haven't beaten any of them.

Hudds were a team to beat on Sat. And we did just that.
You can't just take 17 games as the cut off point.
I can see 2 or 3 of the current top 6 ending outside the playoffs anyway.

Surely where they are now is totally immaterial and this should be based on where the clubs were when we played them, like Sheff Wed and Huddersfield were.

I don't think the teams above us are that much better than us. Our performances against Middlesbrough, Leicester and Hull all arguably deserved results.

As most have said. Up to just Saturday Hudds were the sixth best team in the division and we soundly beat them.

The Huddersfueld result and where they were before does not matter.

Anyway you are all missing the point. I think it a good thing. It shows we are beating teams when we need to even if we are not quite ready to compete with the top teams YET.

Of course it matters. They are no longer in the top 6 because we beat them.

I see what you are saying, but I think this analysis can only be done meaningfully towards the end of the season.

Disagree with......
a) Leicester......should have drawn.
b) Wolves........should have won.
I know we can all play the ' should have/would have/could have ' game but these analyses would give us 31 pts and 34 pts respectively, which perhaps shows that we have 4-6 points to make up, that we should already have.
