I was in the STICKY OUT camp, and now NSC just looks naked! Perhaps one or two, as per the norm for a forum IME, like the Webcam one.

This ought to be a poll, but ....I pass all the stickys by completely, barely notice them.
A thread would stand or fall on it's merits, but if this site needs info threads (i.e dates of events and stuff) then perhaps put them in a specific section for such things.

Another forum I use allows you to choose your own stickies. At the bottom of the page of each thread there is a link to "Stick Thread" (and when reading a stuck thread this is replaced with "Unstick Thread").

I guess there are times when something is significant or important enough to warrant being kept at the top of the page, however most threads have a life and will stay on the first page because they continue to generate interest and postings, otherwise just let stuff fade away naturally. Minimise stickies please.

I rarely look at them or notice them. I might occasionally look at the title and see if I'm interested.

Exactly.

If people want specific threads 'stickied', i.e. the webcam thread, just bookmark them. Then you won't even have to go to NSC before going to the thread.

Not all of us are able to spend every living moment on NSC. If Natterjack has posted some pictures at 10am, and no one else posts it will no longer be at the top by the time I get home from work.
