It was a BRILLIANT case of 'the boy who cried wolf'. Blatant dive in the first half, probably cost him two decisions he should have got later. Shame.

I'm a big of of Gerrards, but that was just embarassing - should have been a yellow. The nudge in the back probably should have been a foul - my paper this morning tried to say that that was a pen - didn't seem to matter that it was several yards outside the box.

In terms of the one in the first half I think i'm in a minority that thinks that could very well have been a pen. The goalie is out of control and he takes Gerrards leg. Regardless of the fact he left his leg there, contact was made.

A defender is not obliged to move out of the way of an attacker if he runs straight at him so why should Gerrard have to move out of the way. As far as i'm concerned he can leave his leg where he bloody well likes and if defenders of goalies make contact with it it's their problem.

Don't get me wrong Gerrard has been guilty of plenty of dives over the years but as far as i'm concerned if there's contact it can very easily be a pen, whether he played for it or not

Don't let the facts get in the way-he was caught by Friedel's foot and leg. And I suppose Samba didn't shove him in the back either?

Any one of those incidents on an Albion player and it suddenly becomes a different matter.

exactly right there was contact for the first penalty claim which he most definetly played for but he has every right to and the other to from samba were pens to and the torres one

Friedel pulled his hands back-very clever in making it look like he was trying to avoid contact. That was all he did to avoid hitting Gerrard. The onus is on the defender/goalkeeper to avoid contact when they're steaming in like Friedel did. He made contact didn't he? As I said previously-if that was an Albion player who was felled in the box this place would be going mental if it hadn't been awarded.

The push in the back by Samba was an even easier decision for Wiley-it was a clear cut free kick on the edge of the box and Samba should have got a red card simply because he was the last defender and made no attempt to get the ball. Look at the replays-his sole intent was clattering Gerrard in the back.

However from directly behind as Wiley was all he could see was two people jumping and colliding, so I can understand why he didn't give it.

On the first one my initial reaction was dive as was the others I was watching with, which may point to why it wasn't given. Having seen the replay, yes there is contact but the contact appear to be after Gerrard starts to go down, hence yes is a diving cheat.

Bollocks. I would cringe with embarrassment if we were awarded a penalty like that. Even Gerrard admitted after that it was not a penalty.

Gerrard, Owen and Beckham are all great divers, and I've been saying it a while.
They are never questioned when they go down for free kicks, and its down to their clean cut reputations

Gerrards yesterday was just a blip in his faultless diving in his career

Forster is a terrible diver and im suprised he hasnt been booked yet for such offences
