Listened to this on my walk home from a curry last night. It’s 20 minutes of total joy. Recorded live, like everything he did.
That's the thing. It was a brutal sound. Steve and Bob made their own instruments to assist with this. To hear it live was one of the most thrilling and devastating experiences. He delivered a sound.
I f***ing love that sound.
When I was in bands we wanted to sound like that.
He engineered/recorded Walking into Clarksdale by Page and Plant.Blues rock ?
“Kill him” …what a tune. I know that’s not the title of the song, but that’s what I always called it.Away camping and just got a signal. What terrible news. Produced the best albums for a lot of my favourite bands and Shellac were awesome.
Do share if he provided an explanation for the rejectionHe engineered/recorded Walking into Clarksdale by Page and Plant.
Otherwise his studio work was mainly indie, alternative, punk, including some big names, eg Nirvana, PJ Harvey, Pixies, Breeders. He also rejected working for Depeche Mode.
It's the song i play to people to get a feel of him/Shellac. Anthem of dark justice that shouldn't be warmly received, but the rejoicement of suggests a romantic smirk to a horror inside. It makes me want to crush and decry popular music.“Kill him” …what a tune. I know that’s not the title of the song, but that’s what I always called it.
Early 90s. He claimed DM had made enquiries so he went to see them live and walked out after 2 songs later telling them they had the wrong guy.Do share if he provided an explanation for the rejection
There's something quite gracious to go with the rigid adherence to principles there.Early 90s. He claimed DM had made enquiries so he went to see them live and walked out after 2 songs later telling them they had the wrong guy.
He also engineered Slint’s first album and by his own admission and regret, spiderland was by far a better album.Early 90s. He claimed DM had made enquiries so he went to see them live and walked out after 2 songs later telling them they had the wrong guy.
