19-year-old Greek striker playing for 1. FC Nürnberg on loan from Super League club PAOK.

Nürnberg have a buy option for 18m Euros which they can't afford, but they would be willing to sell him straight on for c24m Euros, using the proceeds to fund the transfer and pocketing the difference.

A few clubs interested, including us.

This makes sense. Especially as we were after Harder at the end of the summer window. Tzimas seems to have a very similar profile but is scoring at a higher level.

I suspect the club want competition for Ferguson as Welbz’s ultimate replacement. It could be wise sending Ferguson out on loan to regain his form whilst we buy an ‘in form’ striker to replace him for the rest of the season.

Sounds like the Undav situation where we kept being told Stuttgart wouldn't be able to afford the option they may or may not have had on Denis.

Nurnberg take out a loan, pay 18m. They then sell the player for 24m, pay off the loan, pocket 6m minus interest.

I may be wrong but usually these buy out option deals are paid upfront rather than in installments across the length of the deal, maybe that's why they can't afford it but are willing to do this manoeuvre.

I think the option to buy is now, the obligation to buy may be in the summer. Meaning Nürnberg get to keep the player until the end of the season and then sell on at a profit, which presumably they can then use to finance a deal in the short term.

He sounds a bit like a lovely fishing village on Corfu or somewhere so I'm a "yes", but only if we can somehow cut Nuremberg out of the deal. Bunch of chancers.

It was only a trial run by Nürnberg. But we know how those Nürnberg trials can go.

Its that what was first suggested without the loan, they buy for 18m and immediately sell for 24m
