Right, ive been a bit lucky with the ladies recently, but stupidly bonked them all bareback, now ive met a girl i really like and ive told her what ive been up to in the last few months, she wants me to have a STD test- but im pretty scared.

im sure plenty of you have had one- basically im looking for assurance that it wont hurt too much!

Have you got any symptoms, if you have contracted Gonorreah or Syphyllis you would have had pain on passing, or discharge/rash ( although these can clear up on their own you are still infected)

If you had contracted Chlamydia you can carry it with no symptoms at all, but can pass it on to your partner (NSU is the infection caused by chlamydia and is by far the most common infection in the UK)

A test is done at the Claude Nicole opposite the County Hospital (at least it used to be there) and will consist of urine sampling / swab with cotton wool bud, and is not painful.

HIV testing is obviously via a blood sample and will require pre tesrt counselling, although to be fair the chances of a straght man contracting HIV through normal intercourse are vanishingly small.

On a point of interest, if you are being checked she should as well otherwise if she has one of the above you will only re-infect yourself.

Yeah, she's going to have a test too, i have no symptoms, and ive been treated for chlamydia (although it turned out to be a kidney infection).

i had the full service about a month ago, the problem is that the HIV can only tell whether you had it 6 months ago. Also the Chlamyedia one must be done 14 days after you last may have contracted it.

They give you a blood test, they take a little sample of something from the top of your penis and then when you get the all clear you get a little lecture.

Chlymadia is the main one and she is quite right as it is symptomless but can render her infertile if she gets it and it can make a man infertile as well. the other's would have symptoms, ie if you caught them you should know about it, except Hepatitus C which is rife and is symptomless as well but can lead to liver failure down the line, hiv is possible but unlikely, the chance of a neg man catching hiv from a pos woman in a 1 off encounter is 500/1 and 5000/1 if a condom is used.

so Chlymadia and Hepatitus C are you main worries.

Just come back from the docs (unrelated matter) and asked him about testing, he gave me the number of the sex clinic in brighton- he reckons ill get an appointment tomorrow if i give them a tinkle now!

chlymadia is treatable with anti biotics as is a lot of other std's don't panic but bag up next time.
