I was going to do these every ten games, but there were more cup games in the second then than in the first ten, so it's now every nine league games.

It's actually not that time consuming once you set it up. Just takes a few minutes to add a few of the match details to each game. And for most away games I'm on here anyway, so it's easy to add it as the match progresses.

The big time consumption is get the pictures up here, which is part of the reason I'm doing after a bunch of games instead of every game.

Glad some other people find them interesting to look over.

To concede 24 goals in just 7 matches is a staggering statistic. Smith really needs someone in Scotland to save him from his Withdean Hell...

Kuipers played at Huddersfield. Why does he not have a 5+ goals to his name?

The fact that he got himself sent off, hardly absolves him from his part in the heavy defeat - on the contrary, it was largely responsible for it...

Both Kuipers and Smith each played two half games. I awarded them the number of goals they each conceded.

They both got clean sheets v wycombe, v huddersfield, Kuipers conceded 2, Smith conceded 5.

To put Kuipers down as conceding five would be inaccurate. He didn't concede them, he was no more to blame for the ones conceded against huddersfield than he for those conceded againist norwich or leeds.

A bit of stato porn - you can't beat it!

Kuipers let in one goal before he was sent off, Smith let in lots more but with one fewer outfield player protecting him. Having said that, Smith looked shocking at Norwich!

Also - goals per minute played would be great for the strikers - would show their value whilst on the pitch.

Sorry, but that is absolute nonsense, and is a perfect example of how stats are so misleading.
You really think that how many players you have on the pitch has no bearing on the number of goals conceded?

By extension of the same argument, El Abd was completely blameless for the defeat against MK Dons, where we were on top until he saw red for a reckless challenge, simply because it was 0-0 when he walked?

He conceded two before being sent off.

I'd like to point out here, I'm not saying these stats prove anything other than these things that are measured. i.e. I'm a believer that a lot of our performances, while resulting in losses, have been better than last year. But that doesn't show up on here.

We kept a clean sheet against Wycombe, but it doesn't show they had barely any shots on target, as opposed to the 1 conceded against southampton where they had quite a few shots.

And like you say, the 5 that smith conceded in that game was with 9 men in front of him instead of 10.

Also - goals per minute played would be great for the strikers - would show their value whilst on the pitch.

I'll see about working that in next time I'm fiddling with my excel.

You're saying, I guess, If Kuipers had been on the pitch we wouldn't have conceded 5 goals.

So, why should he be given 5 goals that wouldn't have happened if he was on the pitch?

Should I also add the defenders on to this list and say Hawkins conceded 4 goals against stockport?

Whoever is in goal has the responsibility of stopping the ball going in. They are the keeper, the goals we conced on their watch are given to them. Even if they had fewer people in front of them. Kuipers has played with 9 men in front of him, I don't give him a pass for that either.

I don't claim, and never have claimed, that these stats prove anything. I even had a discussion with someone on here several months back about how misleading stats can be.

I'm not posting these to prove anything. I post them for the people, like me, who find these data sets interesting. I know not to put too much stock into them as far as actual performances are concerned. I trust other people are smart enough not to as well, if they're not I don't really care.

Okay. Just so long as we've established that they are pointless, that's fine.

Carry on...
