Which is the better trilogy?

I know the LoR is not completed and the Matrix is only just out but which trilogy is your favourite.

Before they came out i was ready to slate LoR but I have to say that the 2nd is probably my favourite all time film (only until the third comes out though i reckon).

Star Wars is Star Wars and as good as they are IMHO LoR are all round better films and not just because of the technology available.

The Matrix films IMHO are too complicated and the twisted storylines are silly. Also Keanu Reeves cannot act.

Lord of the Rings reigns for me.

Star Wars - Braders go and watch it.

Superb ground breaking technology at the time.

I just don't know.
I LOVED the first Matrix. Watched the 2nd one again on DVD the other night, and thought it was superb (I managed to figure out the plot a bit better). The fighting is just so coolly done in those films, it's excellent.

LOTR is brilliant - Gollum is the most amazing CGI character ever, I could watch him all day. The storyline is gripping, the scale and spectacle of the whole thing breathtaking, and you find yourself really caring about the characters and what happens to them (which is rare for me).

Star Wars doesn't have the appeal of the first trilogy now, but they are still pretty spectacular.

I can happily sit down and stick on any one of the above films and be thoroughly entertained. They all have marvellous scenes.

I've got to go with LotR too. I was foolish enough not to have seen the 1st one until the day before the second one came out as I was taking my girlfriend at the time to go and see it - as she adored LotR.

After watching the first one I was so angry with myself for not having seen the first one earlier! Can't wait til the third one.

Star Wars is a close second tho because it is Star Wars - need I say more!

Start from the original 1977 one.

Have to say the Matrix, although admittedly I've not seen the third one yet. I'm hoping it'll explain all, although I've a few theories of where it could be headed.

None of them are bad, at all. I'm a fan of Star Wars and LOTR, but the Matrix has to beat them both.

The original Star Wars trilogy is the best and can be watched over and over. Shame the new ones are so pants.

Only seen the first Matrix movie, which is damn cool.

LOTR have both been superb so far, and I can't wait for the third one to come out.

Good question - at the time of the first film in 1977 (I believe) the technology used was absolutely awesome.

Totally changed the face of the film industry, I think I am right in quoting Steven Spielberg as saying at the time he then realised where he could go with films and special effects.

For me personally nothing will ever touch the Star Wars trilogy. I think its has as much to do witht he fact I watched them as a kid and they really took me to a magical place, which as an adult im unlikely to be affected by a film in such a way ever again.

The Lotr films are undoubtedly class but star wars really was something special for its time, it doesnt even look dated now and it was made in the 70s.

Probably as bad as the last 2, imo the special effects now have ruined the films, Computer generated effects just do not look as real as the models they used in the first movie.

Hmmm, tough question this is, I must seek Yoda.

It has to be Starwars. As Albion Dan said they took you to a magical place as a kid. Whilst LOTR is excellent visually it dosen't have the same effect and I doubt anything ever will. As for the Matrix the last film ruins the whole thing.
