What a partnership with Gerry Francis. Stan Bowles was from a wonderful era of naturally gifted players who didn’t need to try too much and liked to party. Hudson, Worthington, Best, Marsh.

Our primary school teacher took us to see that QPR team at Loftus Road in 1976, their final game, they won and topped the First Division. Bowles ghosted amidst opposition defences.

RIP.

Add Currie to the mix and the maverick talent around then was mind boggling.

Genuinely sad. His house was on my walk to school every day and the amount of time I lingered slowly walking past hoping to catch a glimpse of the local legend!

75/76 is easily forgotten, but QPR went on an incredible run and almost pulled it off. But Liverpool went equal with it. It would have been quite an achievement. Stan was an awesome player.

RIP
