Am getting married in September, and having my stag weekend in July. I want to stay away from the typical get pissed in Prague ideas, and would like to do something more interesting.

Like a road trip of some sorts, so any suggestions would be great!

Hiring a boat on the Norfolk broads a few years ago with some of my best mates was a great stag do. As far as I know you can still drink and drive in a boat and the delights of Norwich and Yarmouth can be reached for a night out. Loads of pubs on route obviously. Not too pricey either.

You dont HAVE to get pissed in Prague...most other country nationals come for the history and the architecture...but I understand haha...ive always found inland Spain pretty nice..

I agree! Prague is somewhere I'd rather go withy partner, than a bunch of rowdy mates getting drunk.

We did Benidorm in late October.
Quality weekend in the sunshine and paying 1.50 Euro a beer!
Booked flights at £129 from London Gatwick and £90 for two nights accommodation.
Benidorm has everything you need for a Stag Do. Recommended as an alternative destination.

That goes for just about anywhere though. I've never seen the point in travelling hundreds of miles just to spend the time pissed, but each to his own!

Remember also that stag "weekends" are a new phenomenon from the worst excesses of the Thatcher generation. In current times, I'm sure most mates would prefer something a little less expensive than a weekend away.

For mine, I prepared a shopping list for mates to dip in and out of according to what they enjoyed and what they could afford. All local. It included go-karting, football and greyhound racing.

I have also thought of doing things like that, one idea I was keen on was driving to nürburgring in Germany.

The only reason I'm making it a weekend is because so many of friends live nowhere near me. Like Sweden, London, etc.... So have to make it a weekend to make it worth their while.

I went to Swanage for mine.

Loads of pubs open late. Live music in most. No probs with big groups of lads and most importantly no other stag groups.

Was class.

Its about the people you are with rather than the location anyway.

I went to Amazon Adventures for mine. Spent the whole day paintballing / quadbiking / archery / off road buggys. Great fun and not too expensive. Ok, not a weekend, but you get the idea

Think a weekend in Barcelona would be good catch a match whilst there.

Seconded. I was best man for my mate in August and I organised a weekend on The Broads for 10 of us. Was very entertaining - lots of great pubs, very stag friendly as long as you behave yourself and a nice, easy pace. Went to Yarmouth for the Saturday night which has the usual pubs, clubs, strip bars and casino etc if that's your thing. Weather will be great then too.
