What many disregard with getting to or from the Amex is we are the only club currently by the sea. Liverpool is close but has the Mersey tunnel. Being by the sea we have limited exit routes. That being said the A27 flows well normally. Where I park, a 15 minute walk eastwards on the A27 I have never had any cause to complain apart from the Highways apparent lack of knowledge about the biggest event in the South taking place and shutting the roads going east on regular evening games.

The parking is miles away in the uni campus. even having a drink after the match and a mosey round the shop to slow things down we were still stick in traffic queues in the car park for ages. got home at 10.45 and I only live in Portslade.

Given that you had a drink and then a look around the shop, getting home just over an hour after the final whistle doesn’t seem that bad.

Agree - I find the tactical stuff fascinating to watch - football doesn't have to be 90 mins of blood and thunder to keep me interested.

I've chatted with folks around me about the match being a bit like a chess game at times.......

I dont really buy the acoustic argument to the atmosphere debate. I appreciate the sound doesn't travel particularly well but if the stadium as a whole was noisier you wouldn't be concerned about where it was coming from.

We've shown on number of occasions that the Amex can create an incredible atmosphere, unfortunately those days are very few and far between. The Sheffield Wednesday play off game was incredible. David Blunket who probably has more awareness of sound than most , was on record as saying it was one of loudest games he'd ever been to. Chelsea more recently....incredible.

Home fans quiet/ away fans noisy is true in every stadium in the country. Not being able to hear people from the other end of a football pitch is also true.

Agreed, it's also hugely variable. If they've only been once then can they really judge it? E.g. I've seen us play at Elland Road when it's like a morgue, but also when it's rocking.

Yep. Not sure there are that many PL grounds that you can get home, say, 5-10 miles away that much quicker. Always seems worse at ours as you're straight into a queue and standing moaning about it for 20 or 30 minutes (or more) rather than having to walk to a station in that time perhaps

So true. It's the equivalent of being stuck in a traffic jam rather than driving a longer route and arriving at a similar time. People psychologically hate queuing because they feel helpless and like they aren't getting anywhere.

The queues up the ramp and across the bridge to the eastbound platform were as bad last night as I've ever seen them, as no-one had any inclination (or money) to stay for a beer. Southern did a good job, though, the trains ran to time and everyone queued patiently. Believe me, the trains are so much better than a limited capacity tram or monorail service which would be swamped post-match.

It's strange how the many NS/WSU fans who are noisy and angry, only do that when ManU, Chelsea, Liverpool, Spurs, CP or European opponents visit.

Then barely a murmur when Burnley, Wolves or Everton are in town.

What gives, why be up for it and angry when Spurs visit, then not for 2/3'rds of PL clubs, when they should be more winnable games?

Not been there for a game but went to see Rammstein there year before last and discovered, as you allude to, that arena is an absolute clusterf*** for travel.

Tens of thousands of pissed up metalheads trying to navigate away from that place in the dark with absolutely no mobile signal was a shambles. No stewards in sight either.

My group just bumbled around until we found a bus stop and hopped on the first one we saw coming.

Gig was fantastic though.

There is no doubt that last night's atmosphere was a bit meh.

Have to say the amount of football is a bit of a killer. There are so many games you can truly be up for and frankly on a Monday night v Wolves, that probably isn't one as much as a Thursday in the Europa League. Sad but probably true. As always a first goal or two makes a big difference to the atmosphere, it's a two way street generally with a few exceptions.

2mm is impossible. If you fill to the brim up north it would be chucked at you! Use of oversized glasses as a norm is bad for landlords as it has been proved that in practice the glass is overfilled and costs the landlord. Guinness proved many years ago that their stout should be served with 8mm of head. The head in this regard and that of sparkler dispense is known as a dry head (in fact this is the opposite to which many believe it to be). It is dense therefore it actually contains 80% fluid. A wet head, large bubbles, is 80% gas.

Weight and Measures actually do not state what is an allowable head but the industry considers for most beers it should be 95% liquid. This equates to around 5mm of head with a standard ale glass.

I do like something sweet after my regular cheese burger and - a few games ago - REALLY fancied a Snickers. WSU had none. No bother - went for a Mars bar instead

The following game even a Mars bar was impossible - ended up with a Twix and started to consider my season ticket renewal

Anyway - to my surprise WSU had Yorkie bars last night (couldn’t see anything else) so all was good again. Hung around after the game for the park & ride queues to die down and fancied something sweet to neutralise the bitterness of a 0-0 draw. This time - no Yorkers! No snickers, Mars or Twix - all the frankly embarrassed staff could muster was a vegan KitKat. Really upsetting as we all know how terrible KitKats have become. If I could have gone back to my seat and hurl it in protest - I would have done.

Honestly, how can the club push for top-4 when it’s concourse Sweet provision is so bad?
