I doubt it!!

It is well known that Liverpool were pushing it with the cost of their new stadium.

Have they sent the guys home off site already then?

Is there anything at all you dont know?

Unlike Brighton though, Liverpool aren't losing money hand over fist while they are still playing at their current stadium!

The problems at Bristol Rovers and Liverpool are quite different from any that will face the Albion.

Bristol Rovers planned a massive housing development to finance their scheme. The collapse of the housing market has thwarted their plans.

Liverpool's project includes the redevelopment of the area around the existing Anfield stadium. It's that aspect of the project that is proving troublesome - and it's enough to delay the whole scheme.

Albion's project isn't tied in with any housing scheme. The big partners are the educational institutions. Funding for education investment is much more secure. Unlike the Bristol Rovers and Liverpool projects, there are no private sector commercial partners who are in a position to pull out.

I think there is more to this than the so-called "credit crunch" (God how I am sick of hearing that phrase). The two warring owners are barely talking to each other and appear to have very different ideas about how to take the club forward. That's hardly going to encourage lenders. For Liverpool at least I suspect "economic conditions" is a bit of a smokescreen. I wonder how serious they ever were about investing in a new stadium.

Well this "current economic climate" malarky is still giving me the willies a bit.

Interesting. I realise we already qualify for grants from SEEDA and the Football Stadia Improvement Fund. Does the inclusion of educational facilities open the door for further grants from other sources to pay for this aspect of the development?

I'm not sure exactly how it works. We can be certain, though, that the inclusion of educational space in the stadium will bring funding to the project, either as a contribution towards building costs, grants, or long-term rent for the space that City College will occupy. Possibly all three.

There you go again talking sense. Don't you realise some people need something to moan about.
