Yeah surely you have to download the technology of the digit ticket and allocate it to a phone number so how can you do that without a sim card?
It’s associated with a device (and the Google or Apple account of the user of that device) not with a phone number.

How does that work then? You'd have a point if the club said no access unless you use a mobile phone, but the club are offering an alternative to their preferred system of entry at a fee to cover their costs.

Whatever you may think of the fact they are charging for that it doesn't go against equality, diversity or inclusion
Do we charge disabled fans more to sit? A person above 6ft an extra 10%?

I’m not a technology whizz kid but, how ? Without a SIM card isn’t it just a piece of plastic ?
Because pretty much every phone built for the last 10 years (probably a lot longer in reality) will have a built in wi-fi card/chip. The sim card connects you to a mobile network. The wi-fi card connects you to the wireless network, they work independently of each other.

Must admit never realised you can put ticket on an old phone without a sim card. Of course would never consider doing it but presume that would mean you can just have a phone for Albion and share with friends
Of course no one would do that as it is dishonest and against T&Cs of the season ticket.

Fair enough if card lost so another needed but why should those who already have card pay for another. plastic cards used to last from season to season.
I presume the reason is the club feels there is an associated extra cost in admitting people this way, plus there is clear desire to move people to mobile ticketing.

So technically you could have a phone no sim and somehow get digit ticket on there and (im mot suggesting you should just asking if technical posdible) if you cant go to match share with a mate and you more likely happy do that if not your main expensive phone?

I didn’t know that. I’ve had the internet on my phone for the part 10 years.

From a technology point of view that is trivial. Though it is against T&Cs of the season ticket so obviously no one would ever do such a thing.

I assume you don’t have a smart phone then? Basically any phone modern enough to be used for tickets will have wifi.
Yes, I’ve had various smart phones for around a decade. I have been uploading tickets on my phone ever since that became an option. I just didn’t know old phones (that I don’t use) could also access Wi-Fi.

I prefer it tbh. I would much rather order on my phone at a time of my choosing than wait for someone to notice we are ready to order. It also speeds up the arrival of the drinks. Particularly useful in busy pubs and food courts in the city.
As do I, it’s incredibly convenient and also means I’m not having to wait for the bill at the end

And you’ve never once connected any of them to a wifi network or wondered what the wifi options in the settings were?

Try joining your home wifi, putting phone in aeroplane mode then turning on wifi. Pretty much everything will work apart from calls and SMS. Even iMessage will work on iPhones

But clearly on thread here its linked to elderly customers a proteted charracteristic
There are loads of examples on this thread of elderly fans who do have mobile phones as well as those who don't. There is no discrimination going on anywhere except in your head. All fans of all ages, genders, sexual preference etc etc are being treated equally.
