If we could refer to them as Aston Vanilla, Pomposity, Rangers and Port Vile it would lessen the confusion in the CM household cheers.

Just watching McLeish being interviewed on the midlands local news - looks very tired and sounds like he won't be in a job past the end of the season.

Perfect job for Gus :(

Work with a Villa season ticket holder, wants relegation to get rid of McLeish, he really is doom & gloom and anti the EPL. I see Naylor in the rgos todat gives Poyet a decent shot if McLeish goes.

Aston Villa announce record losses of £54m under Randy Lerner | Football | The Guardian

Lerner himself continues to fund the club, via an ultimate holding company also called Reform Acquisitions, registered in the US, and Villa said Lerner has invested a further £25m into the club. Companies House documents show the total Lerner has invested in return for shares is now £133m; he has also put money in as loans, but Villa did not release full figures, only the headlines of their financial results, so the total Lerner has invested is not yet known.

The scale of losses and of subsidy paid in by Lerner, at a time when clubs are seeking to move towards breaking even to comply with Uefa's "financial fair play" rules, partly explains why Villa decided they could not refuse the offers for Downing and Young. Since then, the club have tried to bring down the wage bill, although the figures for spending on wages were not released.

How many clubs are going to comply with Uefa's "financial fair play" rules? Something has to give.

Villa have f***ing raked it in over the past few years with the sales of Barry, Milner, downing and young. If they're still in serious trouble after that then f*** them! Hope they do go down!

What I dont understand @%1; is how Villa bring in record revenue of 92million and somehow still lsot 54.... Where in the hell are we spending nearly 150million pounds?

As for the bit about Downing/Young that money is NOT factored into these figures.

£12m was compensation for sacking two managers

How much was Bent - about £23m?

18 up front and up to 5 mill in add ons though none know what triggers the adds on.

MON was on a 1 year rolling contract so I dont know how much of the 12m il he got....seems GH got a nice pay out no less

Just shows what a decent job O'Neill did taking them to 6th place.
