Gus wants his squad of 22 or 23 players in place in early July for next season's promotion push.
Who of the current squad do you think he will keep?

I think there are only eight players pretty much guaranteed to stay:

McNulty
Tunnicliffe
Dicker
Crofts
Bennett
Murray
Dickinson
Forster

I think Elphick has improved as well, is there room for Jake Wright ?

From what I've seen of him he seems ok.

I would take Forster out of that at 37 cant really see it as much as I repect him and the goals he has scored for us.

Murray is borderline for me, no good being great every now and then. He needs to show consistency and cut out his petty fowling and big mouth which see's him booked nearly every game.

The rumour I've heard is that eighteen of the current squad are on their way out.
What even ones we have paid good money for? We don't need a mass clearout as we will be back to square one with the team trying to gel etc.

Elphick will be here next year fact.Don't understand all these knockers.

Maybe Poyet doesn't believe the "taking time to gel" bullshit excuse?

This is pretty much the first choice - I would add elph/FDM and whing if only as quad members

If Forster is still in contract I think that we will keep him as back up but if not he will be released. I also think that Gus will either build the attack around Glen Murray or sell him and bring in another toi replace him. I would be more than happy to keep him but to get promotion you need a 20 + goal a season striker or 2 x 15 - 18 goal strikers.

Perhaps Snr Poyet may consider demonstrating his managerial potential by transforming this not untalented, but rather dilettante squad into a group with some commitment and belief and obviate the need for expensive changes.

Have you seen Elphick play recently? If you had, you would understand!

I have heard a similar rumor but not to that extent of players leaving. I heard Virgo may as well leave now as Poyet does not rate him but I think all the guy's that started last night bar Hoyte, and perhaps Brezovan will be here next year and some of that lot may struggle to start.

A good team for me would be:

.............................Kuipers............................

Whing............ new CB.......new CB..........Mcnulty

Bennett...........Crofts...........Dicker..........new winger

...............new striker.......................Murray

Brezovan
Elphick
new RB/LB
Navarro
Monkhouse
Forster
Dickinson

6 good players, 4 of whom can be regular starters and have a proven track record at league one and championship level, and we should be alright.

This maybe the squad of 18 that Poyet has after January transfers are here.

Next years squad will depend on how long players contracts last for and who we can sell on to others.
