Why not?

Trott probably in there because Bopara isn't really proving himself to be a very good test player. Plus 798 runs at an average of 99.75 in the CC.

It'll be the same 11 regardless.

Trott vs Sussex in the 20/20 the other night looked shit against spin. I prefer Hildreth.

Trott is 28 FFS! And born in Cape Town. A top order of Strauss, Pietersen, Trott - why not bring back Lamby, Dolly and Greigy as well?

Ooh, let him be in the squad when we play Warks - he always seems to score runs against us

Trott for Flintoff, Sidebottom or Harmison for Broad?

I'd put Sidebottom in for Flintoff unless he's 100%

In reality, although boring we only need a team good enough to draw the next 2 tests, not win them. Not that we will play for a draw. I dont see Broad being dropped as Strauss and Flower seem to really rate him in all their interviews when questioned about Broad

Maybe it is worth the risk of blooding Trott, I think only Brett Lee is really different to anything we get in the County Championship and he is prolific in that.

Surely Trott is cover for Bopara. They'd replace Freddie with a bowler if he wasn't fit - England have shied away from the four-bowler approach in the past few years - and I can't see them abandoning it at seam-friendly Headingley

I though that too, until Strauss didn't bowl Broad until the 50th over. Sidebottom has to play if he's fit and firing again, but if instead of Flintoff are we happy with Broad batting seven?

Trott for Bopara and Harmison for Broad for me. This does depend on fitness of Freddie though. If he isn't fit then Harmy for Freddie and Broad keeps his place. Can't see why Sidebottom is back in the reckoning really, what happens if it doesn't swing? Much prefer to see Harmison.

Flintoff's batting has been important though, I suppose they could just push Broad up the order if he's not fit.

I think Sidebottom can still be very good without swing because of his angle and accuracy. There almost certainly won't be any bounce on the pitch and Harmy's not 100% fit either

I just think a seam attack of Broad, Anderson and Sidearse is very reliant on the ball doing something in the air.

Good news for Sussex. Surely if Sidebottom is in the Test squad he won't play at Horsham?

Cannot see them dropping Broad especially if there is a doubt about Flintoff as he will be a valuable addition to the batting to score some runs. If Flintoff is out I would expect tem to replace him with Harmiston as a bowler or Sidebottom who may score a few runs but not as likely as Broad.
