He bought a controlling interest in Spur in 2001, the crimes he has pleaded guilty to took place between 2013 and 2021.

In this instance, I'm not sure it's fair to criticise the Premier League for something he did 12 years after acquiring the football club.

Maybe, but surely the “fit and proper” test should apply on a continuous basis, not just at acquisition?
