Why do people have to do ‘sequels’ or repeats of classic films? They rarely live up to the original and in most cases just a cheap, lazy venture to make money. I give you the Ladykillers, the Italian Job, Wicker Man, any of the Jaws fiascos - the list goes on.

Probably the only exceptions are Godfather II and French Connection II.

Money

Will probably be shit. Not a big fan of the original either.

I read a couple years back that there was pretty bad blood between the producers who had 100% of the distribution and property rights and thus profits and the cast/director who only received the (comparatively) low salaries they earned during filming. This is why no sequels were ever done despite the popularity of the film and instead the cast did the embarrassingly bad concerts/album follow up to try and cash in on its success.

Agree this does not bode well for the sequel now, as perhaps it is only coming out due to the fact they are able to make it. Think I will wait on this one.

I was randomly at the Freddie Mercury tribute concert and Spinal Tap was one of the highlights of the day, so I wouldn't describe them as embarrassing.

I always remember the leader singer coming on dressed in Mercury cape and crown and announcing the band with "Hello Wimbledon".

I’m not a huge fan of sequels. Having watched European Cumbath 2 a few hundred times can only conclude it lacks the cinematography, pathos, narrative and edge of your seat tension of the original, although the DVDA and rusty trombone scenes did have some merit.

Because of this thread, I've just wasted 30 mins watching Spinal tap clips on Youtube. I particularly enjoyed Stonehenge, The Pods, Starsigns, Getting lost backstage and the cucumber/courgette/marrow. Cracking movie

Because of this thread, last night nearly rewatched Best In Show.

Settled on Mindhorn as I was too lazy to change from I-Player!

I'll be amazed if BiS (Amazon) isn't watched at some point this week.
