Aren't most of these vans for ANPR (?) to catch tax and insurance dodgers rather than speeders?

Indeed there is, just been past it. Hope he catches hundreds of speeders, people go far too f***ing fast along there.

Hopefully even more than that. The suspected terrorists arrested recently were stopped for not having insurance and only when the car was searched, were the weapons found.

Didn't they used to publish a weekly list of where and when they were going to be? If so not sure where.

that'd be for all you pricks who insist that I drive over the limit by tailgaiting me!

Tailgaiting only has a use when the driver in front is doing 20 under, so you can give them a little reminder.

Totally agree with speed traps in built up areas like schools and things like that
It's when they want to fine you for doing 80 mph on a motorway these limits are so out of date
The cars ,brakes and tyres are light years away from the cars the limits were designed for

When the festival of speed was on at Goodwood a week and half ago the Police speed cameras were everywhere on every road leading to Goodwood, funny that, the Sneaky b**tards.

Novel idea, but do one mph less than the limit, and everything will be just dandy

The Sussex Speed Camera Partnership van to this day, still makes a mint by Hove Rec, getting drivers heading down the hill.
Know tons of drivers caught there over the years.

Their van is parked up typically in the middle of the day, well away from times of school pupil movements.

Are their chosen locations based on fatal/injury accident blackspots?
As I cannot recall these evere happening at the southern end of Shirley Drive.

Always accidents at the junction just past where you are saying, where the road intersects Old Shoreham Road... maybe people speeding down the hill try their luck with the lights and have a side on collision (speculation).

Every mobile site the partnership uses has had a fatal accident near there, the site is usually positioned a few hundreds yards around the accident site, but they are tied to where they can set up, ie, in open spaces, not hidden behind trees etc, there are 6 camera techs I believe and they stay at a site for about an hour at a time, so spread that out over Sussex so they could be anywhere at any time.

Its all a gamble.

Its up to every individual, but if you break the law and get caught you lose.
