Speculative Punt For Plumpton Today

2.45 Christon Cane

Plumpton has HEAVY going today, and Christon Cane is the long outsider of three horses in the 2.45 race. It should lose by half a cicuit of the track. But...

3 miles 2 furlongs is three ciruits of the Plumpton track which can end up like a bog. The race is a novices chase and there's plenty of ways for the two favourites to come a crop today, seen it happen at Plumpton many a time. So if you've got a spare quid (DON'T go large) might be worth a punt. Available at 70/1 on Betfair (I took all the 80/1) and 40/1 on bhabet (bet365.com) - tho maybe take the Starting Price on there

Over no.5 Christon Cane struggling
Christon Cane adrift by 15
Chamoss Royale & Fair Question it's between these two
Christon Cane struggling to make it round

even if the other two fall, will it actually get there

Edit: :dunce: Christon Cane was pulled up earlier

Brilliant. This thread reminds me of probably my first betting experience, at Parham point-to-point over 20 years ago.

In the last race of the day there were only two nags in the field, one was odds-on, one was about 25-1.

Clearly there was a good reason for this but my brother, undeterred, convinced himself there was a case to be made for the underdog, which promptly fell at the first leaving the other horse to run round for two circuits on its own. I didn't laugh though. Much.

Fair enough, but I've picked up on a 66/1 winner at Plumpton before, in the three miles novice chase on heavy going. There's the old racing saying 'always back the outsider of three' and it comes in more often than it should. Didn't come this time but

Ah yes, Tilsworth Charlie 80/1 second and I take full credit for it!

The next race Tilsworth Charlie went out and won at 50/1!

Should have had courage of our conviction that day. I mean, a £2 e/w punt is a MINCER of a bet.

Still, came out a few quid up...
