It’s a shame that the BBC article does not explain the context for NASA’s resurgent interest in the moon.

Nothing to do with science, everything to do with international politics.

These missions are a land-grab.

The romance and intrigue of these moon missions is lost to me unfortunately but the James Webb telescope mission is the opposite luckily.
