Knowing a bit about the FIASCO that was the construction of the Southwick Tunnel, I'd be amazed if anyone came on here and owned up.

I remember when in about 1993, one of the Geography teachers at school losing his rag with one of the Theobold's and essentially threatening him, due to the council allowing the tunnel.

Not sure why that is relevant, but a bit of I remember something, for a Friday afternoon.

Wasn't the 24000 tonnes of steel I take it! Only 21600 tonnes required at tender. Slipped someone a few quid to boost it up a bit![/QUOTE]

Is that what the big arch was for? To use up the surplus?

No that was built first to hold the roof up!

Not sure if its true, but the surplus was being used for some top secret nuclear bunker somewhere near Southwick, only a rumour like.

That makes sense.

So what did our knowledgeable friend supply for Wembley, if it wasn't steel?

Orange jackets?
Loo roll holders?
Ketchup bottles?
