He should know and he is not wrong.....however, he was also wrong to not acknowledge what is currently going on here at the Albion, and given the catchment area, the potential that is slowly being unlocked.

Wigan is hardly a hotbed either, but it jumps on the North West bandwagon.

I guess hotbed is associated with mines, shipyards, and inner cities. Royal Pavillion hardly qualifies. However, given the prices Chelsea, Liverpool, Arsenal etc currently charge their "hotbed" support has moved to become "clientelle", and we would definetly compete in that arena.

While he may be correct in the technical sense, it is not as if his phone is a hotbed of incoming managerial offers it would appear.

Well he is right isn't he... 1 club with a huge catchment area and no competition, and we have never had massive crowds, 4 years in the top flight and no trophies. Sure there are worse counties out there i.e. Cornwall, but compared to just about anywhere in the north of england it's very poor.

Daley Thompson only lived their for a few years. Would you really put your own name down as the most famous person from that area ?

The answer is Alan Minter.

High up on the South Downs.
When France won the World Cup in 1998, our esteemed English press went to great lengths to stress that Paris was not a football city. Strange that there are now more Parisians playing in the Premiership than Geordies and Yorkshiremen.

TBH the only real hotbeds of football now are South East London, Merseyside and the East London/South Essex corridor.
