Power Supply problem!

At times like this I'm happy about getting a call out at 3am this morning which in turn means I;ve worked from home today

Friday 17 February - 17.00

Due to a problem with the power supply in the Earlswood area, southbound trains will not call at Coulsdon South and Merstham stations until further notice, and delays of up to 60 minutes may be experienced on the Brighton Mainline this evening.

Passenger for these stations are advised to travel to Rehill, change and board a northbound service calling at Merstham and Coulsdon South.

Metrobus is accepting Southern tickets between Purley and Redhill on its 405 route.

We apologise for the inconvenience this will cause.

Stuck outside redhill at the moment. Looking forward to the delays on the mainline when I get there. What a great week to commute.

Up to 60mins delay, they have closed part of the down line at Gatwick.
A train has ripped up part of the conductor rail, trains are stuck all over the place.
I was diverted via Redhill,
What a year they have had so far, delay after delay.

Wonder how Network Rail can explain this, cant imagine train companies are going to be happy with the last few weeks with the infrastructure failings.

Exactly , it is not Southern or FCC's fault it is Network Rail and their infrastructure that is failing

Apparently a First Capital Connect train towards Brighton had a conductor shoe (which picks up the electric from the 3rd rail) ripped off and is now stuck on the line without power.

I was so lucky. I got on the last train to Brighton before they cancelled all others.

It's a displaced conductor rail near Salfords

Sounds about right, if the rail is at the wrong height, once the train its it the "shoe" comes off, best hope that nothing goes wrong on Sunday.
