I haven't read a newspaper since being at the Euros in the summer, after reading some of the nonsense that was written about England fans at the time. However, it is so hard to know who to blame from a commuter point of view!

Having a view from the inside is always great to really get an understanding from another perspective. Unfortunately I can no longer work from home and my employers are becoming increasingly frustrated at my timekeeping.

What are your views on the current safety of passengers due to the conditions on the limited service on trains now? I understand passenger safety is paramount to all staff but surely more lives are being put at risk during strikes/overtime bans than at any other time due to the serious overcrowding?

I watched the urgent question in parliament yesterday that was presented on 5th December and it left me thinking that this is going to just keep going on for a while!

Haven't got long but just quickly - I don't think we can abdicate some degree of responsibility for current serious overcrowding and it is something that does weigh heavily but I would point out that we have only had 3 days of drivers' strikes so far, the goal is for an overall more safe railway, no "modernisation" plan should involve cutting down staff numbers, introducing less safe methods of working and reducing safety training. There are plenty of other reasons for the current debacle. And again, don't for a second think we don't think about commuters like you and your daily concerns but I don't see any other way at the moment. If I was striking and in dispute because I wanted more money or whatever I wouldn't expect an ounce of support but it is genuinely an attempt to keep the railway as safe as it possibly and realistically can be for you and your family.

Cut short my night out in London for a trip home via Thameslink this evening. Do not trust Victoria as far as i could throw it. This outrageous situation is difficult to comprehend. There is a lack of overtime yet Southern have used that as an excuse to pretty much cancel every London service from Brighton today. That is quite frankly bullshit. I'm a daily commuter and today a leisure traveller but I know who I trust and it is not Chris Grayling and Charles Horton that's for sure. At my own cost I still support the actual workers rather than those who wish to see them disappear.

When I first saw there only one train an hour from Brighton to Gatwick today (26 minutes past each hour) I booked my Xmas guest straight on to a National Express coach. Don't trust SASTA one inch to get them there for their flight, even allowing a couple of hours contingency.

Attendance is bound to be well down as a result

Pathetic rail "service" run by an incompetent company who have been given a joke contract by a Government with no clue, and staffed by militant tendancy.

It doesn't matter whether you're trying to get to the Amex, the races, or to work, these prats will fack it up for you

All this fuss caused by whether guards are needed to shut doors on trains, yet we are now testing driverless cars. A train only needs to start and stop..It`s on a rail FFS..Driverless trains must be the answer!!!

They will be eventually - it's just that it will take a mammoth logistical effort to get us there.

Again, previously if the cameras weren't working it wasn't a big deal, the guard closes the doors and the cameras are useful to us to keep an eye on what's going on. Now they have to be 100% for us to dispatch a train - by the company's own instruction - so naturally more faults will be reported.

Last year Mrs Earle got squished when the doors closed 10 minutes before departure and as she was boarding. She fell in to the corridor and, guess what, when we complained, the cameras weren't working. Train left on time. Camerass only seem to have a very selective operating time, like when it suits Southern!
