Utterly STUPID to have a pop at the unions over this. IMHO, like. By common consent, the service is better on a non-strike day than it is on a strike day. Course it is brother THPP and some people are more equal than others. So add that to the strikes and there is no let up is there. If its not southern its strikes if its not southern its strikes if its not southern its strikes.

Common consent is its BETTER on strike days (London line anyway).

However now the drivers have joined the party why not have a pop? They too are becoming part of the OVERALL problem.

Personally Im sick of being piggy in the middle. Some of the militants on here talk about the working man. I think most of us here are working men (and women) and rely on the trains, as the OP said generally strikes are supposed to hurt the employer..but they are not they are hurting ME. When it hurts me then I take it PERSONALLY. IMHO like.

Will be interesting if its as good on a strike day over Christmas. Already had to cancel a number of things with friends and family where I normally rely on the trains over Chrsitmas due to the strikes. I have zero sympathy with them and see Ernest as always ignores honest questions as one above as to the reason others can operate in the way that southern are proposing to do.

I wonder how the unions will fell when they have blood on their hands. I for one detest drink driving as many do but some who see it as more an acceptable thing to do, but would normally get the train are likely to push the boundaries more than they would do with a full train service.

Guess what? GTR performance levels would have been utterly unacceptable during the lifetime of this franchise without any kind of union action at all. Strike action just masks the underlying problem and the total failure of the government departments whose sole sole raison d'etre is to monitor this stuff. Anyore else smell fish?

I agree there the whole thing is corrupt, rotten and morally ambiguous to say the least...however the unions are battling the government and in war terms the passengers are collateral damage here...and thats unacceptable. We are being ****** over enough by an already unfit for purpose "system"

If they have a problem they should be marching to number 10 or some original campaigns that I dunno a football club that had their home sold by moneymen under their feet conducted maybe.

If the government had one iota of common sense, then Peter Wilkinson should have been out on his ear as soon as his 'break the unions' guff got into the public domain.

Like a red rag to a bull, Cash et al have taken this up with a mandate to defend their position. Started off with a noble cause, but now I reckon a serious number have forgotten, or at least lost sight of, what they're fighting for.

Wikinson gave the RMT and ASLEF carte blanche to fight for whatever they felt like, purely because they wanted the fight. As TMLS said, it's US that are being f***ed, not the government/DafT/Southern/GTR/ASLEF/RMT.

I have sympathy for everyone that has to use southern rail or works for the company. I'm starting to feel ASLEF have fvcked the RMT over somewhat and as most of the guards have signed the new contracts it isn't looking good for anyone IMHO

thats the stupidity of it, they've told their members to accept the new role. while not accepting any conditions around when the OBS is required, weakening them long term.
