According to local news this morning(although not sure why that would appear down here) Southend today awaite a planning decision on a new 20k stadium near their training facility, if they get the green light they hope to be ready for the 2009 season.

Makes you sick:down:

Hove, f***ing ACTUALLY.
Not really, cant imagine land in that shit hole being difficult to aquire coupled with it being a novelty that things are being built there rather than knocked down, should get it through pretty quickly.

Its all about location.

Yes it does, we are paying the price for not being in a location blessed with a seemingly unending choice of brown field sites on which to build a football stadium, or being surrounded by councils who see a new ground benefitting the community as a whole.

byf, you make a very good point, some of the places where they have built new football stadia...they might have been better investing the money in indoor toilets for the local population...

Bristol Rovers got their planning application approved for an 18,000 re-development of their current ground. Anyone who knows the ground will know this will give a lot of parking problems to the surrounding area. I live 5 mins round the corner and kept getting flyers about campaigning against the stadium. Didn't want to be seen as a NIMBY so I support it.

Their plans have only been knocking around for a year or two which makes you sick to the stomach. However, a different beast in that they aren't taking up any greenbelt area but just redeveloping what they have there.

Does look a bit strange doesn't it, they appear to have a long stand (bottom right hand corner) looking onto the car park, guess that is so you can keep an eye on the chavs trying to rob your radio!

Nestled, as root hall is, between the magnificence of Basildon and Burnham on crouch, they could announce they are planning to build the worlds tallest shit mountain and no-one would care.

Good luck to them.

yeah , good luck to them , about same size club as us I'd say

Christ, if we're the same size as Southend we really have gone down the tubes!!! Our 'potential' (yes that word) outstrips them and then some imho.
