Southampton VERY impressive

Despite missing some key players today I have to say I thought Southampton were EASILY the best team we have played this season and have a team I think could compete in the Championship with less tinkering than ours.

Once Murray went off I thought they were completely dominant.

To be fair we were lucky to get a 0-0 at their place as well, despite missing the penalty. The table doesn't lie though, we've been the best team this year, and are still miles in front.

Their defence was strong, they moved the ball well and quickly and had a half-fit Lalana, no Harding and no Barnard. I just don't think we would look as impressive without Murray, Bennet and Painter.

we had nothing to play for and they were desperate for the points

In two games we have scored one goal against them. That alone suggests they have a fairly solid back four.

As they should be seeing how much they cost and how long has our top striker been on the pitch against them? Well known that Barnes and Wood up top is not great

I wouldn't say they were impressive! But they were clearly better than us on the day.

spot on , when you sit 11 men behind the ball you invite pressure as we did in the second half. it was frustrating to see calde clear to no one because we are all behind the ball. its not the way to defend and always catches you out. surely everyone saw it coming today and it happened. we were poor today but easily forgiven. the turning point again was muza going off, never look the same team without him be it gouing forward or defending. their second was an embarresment.

I've seen better opposition at the Withdean this season, they were nothing special, their second goal also looked to be offside.

...if we hadn't gifted it you it, you would have none.

The difference between our team and yours is consistency. We will probably lose at home to Hartlepool on Monday. We have an amazing record against the top 6.

Anyone trotting out the old 'they had something to play for line' is being a little disparaging to the professionalism of our players and clearly didn't see the likes of Liam Bridcutt sprint 20 yards to chuck his head infront of a rasping shot.

Thay had a lot of big players but did'nt look nothing special, When we played the ball around they could'nt live with it but as others have said they had something to play for and we did'nt. A draw would've probably been a fair result but fair play to them for getting the win.

This is the back four with a £1million goalkeeper and a £1million centre back? They have a very good defence, but they've paid well to assemble it. I'm not being bitter or sour, congratulations to them on the day and defensively they are very good in general. But it's not a suprise considering their outlay to get it.

Or perhaps we lack a completely clinical finisher and , importantly, we were without Gordon Greer who would have stifled many of their attacks.

Today (although I have to say my seat in row A of the East Stand did not allow me a perfect view, it seemed to me and others around me that we played far too deep and with very large hit men like Soton had, we were almost inevitably going to suffer. (Big guys versus smaller guys equalls smaller guys being flattened (eg Murray and Ankergren). If we had been two up then perhaps resorting to playing deeper (and deeper) may have been appropriate, but just 1, no chance.

Perhaps it is just me but where did they find that referee from, he may well have been returning home on the Soton team coach, but that apart, there were some weird decisions.

We still played the smarter football although I may be wrong given my viewpoint.

Wasn't impressed at all. We let them come at us for most of the game. We've played a million times better than them for the most part this season.

I actually think Elphick is better in the air than Greer and therefore better suited to today's game.
