We are a very classy corner shop but how long can we compete with the equivalent of Superstores opening up all around us?

I am happy to keep shopping at the corner shop

According to my sauce whilst Sport Republic have raised £100m for the deal from shareholders the actual price they have paid to Gao is higher than that.

Gao bought 80% of Southampton for £208m but hasn’t put any money into the club itself. He was willing to accept a loss but not one as big as is being reported.

"We are delighted to be able to complete this acquisition as a first step towards execution of our investment strategy.“

No explanation of that investment strategy. I was under the impression that the only money making PL club is Manchester Utd so presumably their ‘investment strategy’ relates more to the assets.

Investment strategy is to become a multi club ownership model, similar to Manchester City, Brentford, perhaps PIF and it could be argued Tony Bloom too.

What’s the return ?

Depends on the owner objectives, in the case of City Football Group, it's the kudos of being successful, for other owners, it helps to de-risk the implications of relegation. Own one club and it gets relegated and you've got a financial problem (especially in the Premier League) own six clubs and it is highly improbable that all six will be relegated at the same time, so risk is reduced.

My Saints friends falling in to the trap like Newcasyle and all the other magic free money appearing out of nowhere.

We're so lucky to have a fan in charge.

The only qualification potential owners seem to need is cash, and no one is too bothered where it came from.
