Anyone else have a similar experence yesterday?.....I caught the 6pm train from Brighton to Worthing which is operated by SW trains. The travel voucher is valid to Shoreham. I also had a ticket to cover me from Shoreham to Worthing. Between Bton and Shoreham Mr ticket man comes through....."Tickets please"...
Ticket man...."Erm, this is a football ticket"
Me................."yep"
Ticket man...." I've never seen one of these before"?
Me................ " You have now"!
Ticket man....." Well, I don't think this is valid on SW trains, I can't accept it"
Me.............."I've been using them since 1999 on this line"
Ticket man...I don't think SW trains accept these"...
Me.................."Well, it says acceptable by Stagecoach services on the back. Who is SW trains owned by then"?
By this time, a group of Bristol fans opposite were pissing themselves laughing. One piped up in a West country drawl..." Hey, I've got one of those" and waved it under the ticket mans nose. Next, his three traveling companions proceeded to wave match tickets under the guards nose. By this time, jobsworth realised he'd bitten off more than he could chew, shook his head, muttered something to himself and slouched off to the next carriage.
Does anyone know if travel vouchers aren't valid on SW trains, or was the guard just a ?
