I thought you might like to read the gist of a report on the recent game between Hay-on-Wye St. Mary's and St. Harmons in the Watson Associates Mid-Wales League (South) - not the Premiership I grant you but still a league of some standing in these parts.

Final Score was Hay 27 - St Harmons 0

Gate - possibly into double figures but probably less than the number of goals scored.

Scorers for Hay were Kevin Jones 11, Ian Jones 4, Mike Ward 5, Bryan Kirkham (GOALKEEPER ) 3 , Sam Powell 2and 1 each from Mike Harvard and Gareth Ratcliffe. It seems only 8 of the St. Hatmons side turned up but the game went ahead any way. Later one got sent off and then on 74mins one got injured. There being no subs available the ref had to abandon the game as there were less than 7 players on the St Harmons side. Since there was still i5 mins to play, plus stoppage time, goodness knows what the score would have been after a full game.

St. Harmons are at the foot of the table and their stats are:-

P 22 W 1 D2 L19 GF 19 GA 165 GD -146 P 5 **
** Less 3 points deducted for some offence or other - probably not turning uop with enough players.

When was the last time Man U, Arsenal or Chelsea gave their fans this much entertainment ??

Why doesn't Kuipers ever score a hat-trick? No wonder Wilkins didn't give him the number 1 shirt this season.

...if he could score a hat-trick he would have had the number 9 shirt before now!

That kind of happened to a team I used to play for. (Portslade United)

Our squad only consisted of 8 players and on a cold, wet morning on a mudbath of a pitch we went out, played the whole match and lost 33 (Thirty-Three) - 0

Luckily I wasn't playing in goal that day, I was number 1 goalkeeper but was fed up of having to play in goal with only 7 or 8 players on the pitch and losing every week.

I played in a game last year where 8 players turned up, 4 of which were 16 and making their sunday league debuts and we played top of the league. Got beat 20-1, could have been worse but our keeper played a blinder.

We got our revenge though as they had to play us second last game of the season, if they beat us then they won the league. I came off the bench with about 10 minutes left and scored a lob from about 25 yards with my only touch of the game to give us a 2-2 draw. Ill never forget the look of disbelief on their faces at the final whistle.

Good grief, if Kuipers ever scored so much as a single goal I think Complete Badger would spontaneously combust.

I played a sunday game with only seven players once [it was really frosty and one guy who with 4 others in his car, rang the wrong sports centre to check if the games were called off!]

We ridiculously held them to 2-2 for 85 minutes at which point my SLOPPY back pass gave away the winner!
