we can't keep playing his just so he get's "experienced" if it's detrimental to the team.

True. It's a paradox. You can't play someone just to give them experience, but they need experience and can't get it unless you play them. Which is what makes it a tricky decision whether to drop him or not.

Oh my god - one poor game and you've resigned him to the reserves for the rest of the season...Believe it or not, sometimes goalkeepers have bad games as well.

Til last night, Sullivan has hadrly put a foot wrong since coming in for Kuipers before Xmas and whilst I like Kuipers, Sullivan doesn't deserve to be dropped just because of one average performance. FFS if that was the case, then I can name a few other players who should be dropped ahead of him!

yes agree
with above, the usual moaners,if it aint one player its another, veryencouraged by the team last nite, roll on sat

Sullivan has been excellent until last night when he was very poor, but as I've said many times you can't expect a 20 year old keeper to be consistent every single week, especially one with no more than 20 odd games under his belt. Sullivan will go on to be a fantastic goalkeeper, but let's not forget it's rare to find number ones under the age of about 24 so it might be two or three years yet before he is. For now, and the next year or two at least, we need to get Michel back in goal and hope he rediscovers the fantastic form he was in before his injury. As well as being a superb goalie, I just think the experience and organisation that Michel brings are what we need right now. Far from being too old, I'd say now is the age where Michel should be at his peak - 34 is an excellent age for a keeper. Also, we are in a relegation battle - it would be nice to give players experience but staying up comes first, and that means playing your best team which definitely includes Michel.

He hasn't been that good though has he? Every routine save he makes seems to be greeted with mass hysteria. Last night was AGAIN proof that he is going to cost us more goals and in our position we can't risk it. Kuipers in NOW please. If we were safely in mid table then yes give him games, but not when it could result in relegation.

I think Sullivan isn't as decisive as Kuipers and this can lead to indecision in defense at times as was evident last night.

However, their tap in goal from Mclean in the first half from Sullivans parry, for instance, was not entirely Sullivans fault. I watched quite clearly as Hinshelwood was left to pick up both Mclean and another player ( Mackail-Smith possibly ? ) who were filling up the box while the rest of our defense were ball watching. The lack of communication in our defense is not all down to Sullivan that's for sure.

Sullivan's taken his chance really well during Kuipers' injury and a relatively poor performance last night should not be enough to knock him back. I confess though to feeling more confident with a fully fit Kuipers in goal.

FDM needs to be passing on his experience and knowledge to Sully. Without a goalie coach these two need to work as a specialist team so that when Chef hangs up his gloves there is a natural successor.

At one end last night you had Sullivan at the other Joe Lewis who it is said is in line to be a future Engalnd goalkeeper and even on last nights showing I know which one I would rather have.

As we type I would think that they are considering who to approach to become goalkeeper coach.

Plainly obvious, we are spending all this money on out field players, yes he's a good keeper, but Sully has not got enough experience. Did'nt get anywhere near to any of the shots that went in, Kippers not 100 % convinced by.

I take it you haven't watched the Albion that long. Because last month he was superb for us, and there was absolutely nothing he could do about those four goals last night. I do think FDM will come back into the side on Saturday, but Sully hasn't been to blame to our demise, it is our poor defending and team selection by MA.

But it hasn't been one though. His distribution has been consistently awful, he's a great shotstopper, pretty good in the air but often fails to command his area and communitcation with his defence has been very dubious on a number of occasions..

I like the bloke, I think he'll do well. But all the time we've got a keeper like Kuipers at the club, who's been there, done it and got the t-shirt.. I think he should be between the sticks.. He commands his area, alright his kicking isn't fabulous, but I think he's prone to less errors and would give the defence a bit more confidence in itself which it BADLY needs at the moment. How many indecisive moments have we seen in recent games between Elphick/Sullivan.. too many.

I agree with both of these. Sullivan hasn't been as great as people make out, many of the games he's played in he's made very average, routine saves. There's only been the odd couple of games where's he been good. I've been saying it for a while, we need Kuipers back in goal, at the moment he is the better goal-keeper.

Baloney.

I am pretty sure Sullivan was the almost unanimous choice for NSC's Player of the Month last time round.

He is class and is no worse than any other keeper at this level. He was certainly better than Peterborough's.

Must be time to find another scapegoat though eh?

It's not about finding a scapegoat. Sullivan has the potential to be good keeper, but our shaky defence isn't helping him. He is bound to make mistakes due to his inexperience which I can accept. But the fact we have got a quality keeper on the bench who has the experience means in our position we HAVE to play him.

I do think the praise for Sullivan has been WAY over the top though. He has had good games, Leicester away for example, but he's made plenty of mistakes that a team scrapping for survival can ill afford to make.

I am at a loss to see where all these people saying that 'Kuipers commands the box ' having been watching matches because that is one of his biggest faults he does NOT command the box as a man of his size should.

He wasn't convincing in goal, and his kicking was woeful. Time to consider FDM.
