I think Sinead O connors Nothing compare to you was writen by Prince

It was indeed written by the little purple genius. The clue was in the way he used text speak before it's time. "Nothing Compares 2 U"

"Love Is All Around" was written by Reg Presley of The Troggs, but they never had the hit with it that Wet Wet Wet did.

"I Fought The Law", originally written and recorded by The Crickets, covered more successfully, twice over, first by the Bobby Fuller Four, and secondly by The Clash.

Bobby Fuller's version is TOP NOTCH.

I seem to remember 'Ray of Light' by Madonna being written by some never heard of band and she had trouble tracking them down to ask if she could use it. May have just been the riff, not sure!

Also my old favourite...
