The tide is high written and performed by John Holt of the Paragons. Which was only a b-side. Massive hit for Blondie. Later destroyed by talentless media whore Kerry Katona and her Atomic Strumpets.

"What's So Funny 'Bout Peace, Love and Understanding?" is probably more famously by Elvis Costello than Nick Lowe, though maybe by not much? Whatever, it's one of the best songs ever so it deserves to be put up on this thread!

"Because The Night" Patti Smith Group. Written by B. Springsteen, there is a live version of it by him and the E-Street Band on "Live 1975-1985". It is awesome.

His studio version eventually got released in The Promise last year, with other unreleased tracks from the Darkness On The Edge Of Town sessions.

Re: Madonna's Ray of Light, it came from a duo called Curtiss Maldoon, the track was called Sepheryn, I bought the cd out of curiosity but couldn't recognize
Ray of Light in it. Another songwriter that doesn't actually fit the criteria but is quite interesting is Trevor Peacock who plays the old bloke Jim Trott, in the Vicar
of Dibley. He wrote Mrs. Brown You've Got A Lovely Daughter (Herman's Hermits) as well as songs for Adam Faith, Bernard Cribbins and Joe Brown.
