You know when you hear a song and you always associate it in your mind with a particular memory, even if it's something really trivial?
Praise You by Fatboy Slim- every time I hear it I think of the championship winning game against Chesterfield, one of the best nights of my life. The thing that sticks in the mind (apart from the goal and final whistle obviously) is on the video, where all the blokes are splashing through the puddles behind the goal, in slow motion, and everyone hugging Dick Knight. Sheer joy. So the song always makes me smile.
Slightly less exciting, that annoying Time To Burn song brings back memories of sitting in a traffic jam on the A12, frying in the August heat. We were queuing up to get to Southend amid a sea of optimism at the start of the season. Depressingly we lost 2-0. Time To Burn must have been on the radio in the car, as I always think of poxy Southend when I hear it.
Any songs that trigger memories for you?
