I'll start and keep it low brow

Jackson Browne - Rosie

all about wanking

I won't bother with the full song as the following will make it obvious, now you know, anyway :)

Well I sat her down right next to me
And I got her a beer
While I mixed that sound on stage
So the band could hear
The more I watched her watch them play
The less I could think of to say
And when they walked off stage
The drummer swept that girl away

But rosie youre all right -- you wear my ring
When you hold me tight -- rosie thats my thing
When you turn out the light -- Ive got to hand it to me
Looks like its me and you again tonight rosie

Sinead O' Connor - Nothing compares to you is supposedly about giving up smoking. Not sure about that one however

The '69' in the Bryan Adams hit 'Summer Of 69' is not a reference to the year, but rather to something somewhat more intimate...

If one were to assume it was about the year 1969, it would have been a bit difficult for Mr. Adams to have done all the teenage stuff that he sings about, being as he was only 9 years old in that year.

Also, there's the line as the song starts to fade out "me and my baby in a 69".

YES! But.....not actually me...... I knew this lass who owned a sailboat, she had a pro signwriter paint "I may not have the answer, but I believe I've got a plan". I know, it's a bloody silly thing to put on the side of a boat, a pretentious name and all that - but, she said it was her favourite song by her adorably nice Jackson Browne.
She did not know it was a song JB sang about showing a girl his penis.
"honey lemme introduce you, to ma red-necked friend"
She thought I was a pervert to even THINK for one MOMENT that nice innocent sensitive Jackson Browne could mean such a NASTY thing!

As 'Rosie' illustrated, :tosser: (Americans often refer to 'Rosie Palm and her five friends', it's a well-known phrase there) it wasn't his only song based on penile things. :lolol:

(Edit; the line she actually chose, was JB intimating that an orgasm wasn't guaranteed "I may not have the answer" but he was happy to give the chick a good rogering to see what happened "but I believe I got a plan")

Pretty little one
How has it all begun?
They're teaching you how to walk
But you're already on the run
Little one--
What you gonna do?
Little one--
Honey, it's all up to you
Now your daddy's in the den
shootin' up the evening news
Mama's with a friend, lately she's been so confused
Little one--
Come on and take my hand
I may not have the answer but I believe I got a plan

Honey you shake and I'll rattle and
we'll roll on down the line
And see if we can't get in touch with a
very close friend of mine
But let me clue you in, it ain't like him
To argue or pretend--
Honey let me introduce you to my redneck friend

Well they've got a little list of all
those things of which they don't
approve
They've got to keep their eyes on you
or you might make your move
Little one--
I really wish you would
Little one--
I think the damage would do you good

Honey you shake and I'll rattle and
we'll roll on down the line
We're going to forget all about the battle
It's gonna feel so fine
'Cause he's the missing link, the kitchen sink--
Eleven on a scale of ten
Honey let me introduce you to my redneck friend

Honey you shake and I'll rattle and
we'll roll on down the line
I'm going to try to swing you up into my saddle
And then we'll run but you'll think we're flyin'
Now honey don't just stand there
Lookin' like this dream will never end
Honey let me introduce you to my redneck friend

10cc. I'm Not in Love. Now listen up. He actually is in love. Her picture is not on the wall just to hide a messy stain. He really does love her.

Yeah only sussed that out myself recently - nice twist as I always used it as a 'breaking up' song.. not the fact that he's in denial!

Was that one hard to miss? It was quite obviously about him being in denial.

Okay, there are probably loads I still have no idea about that other people realised years ago.

Anyway, well done in raising the standard of this thread - otherwise it would be all about wanking, and getting out the penis

Not forgetting "Red Headed Woman", of course. How many rock stars do songs about... (sorry, did I already mention that?)

Attila the Stockbroker - we want falmer. So many drugs references I'm surprised it got airplay.

Frankie - Relax. Really about eating Werthers originals.

"Crush" by Paul van Dyk is apparently about being transsexual, despite the lyrics being about stalking, and the artist being, well, not transsexual...

That's 'our tune' I was the one in denial (back in 1991)

I could never understand why Patti Smith devoted a whole album to her love of ponies. I did learn why Captain Beefheart had to get out of Carson City though.
