Being stuck in Portsmouth for the weekend and no access to SCR I sat through the Charlton V Pompey game on the radio. Have to admitthat once again the pompey fans were FUCKIN loud.

It came to my notice three things we as fans could do to make our singing better:

1) They use a drummer (and That twat with the bell) to keep everyone in time.

2) They sing tunes at a SLOW pace such as 'Harry Redknapps blue n white army' - We sing too fast, sussex by the sea sung slower with a drummer would be so much better

3) THEY KEEP GOING - each tune carries on and on.

As much as I hate pompey, their support sounds superb, I was actually quite jealous. What do others think, am I talking wank or do people agree ?

No f*%king drummer!
No f*%king bell!

Alot of supporters are just as jealous of our support.

The drummer keeps everyone going and keeps them in time though thats all.

The Pompey support is great I'll grant them that much. But then the do get 3 time as many as us at home.

Home support....as much chance of getting a song as you have getting 3 points away.

Away support? Nuff said. We can out sing any team in the country!

Blackpool support was pretty good yesterday. They had a drummer and it helped.

Must admit though that I'd rather do without one.

Blackpool also big orange (tangerine?) flags, about 8 of them, which the ballboys waved every time they scored.

It's the fact they keep going that we should imitate. One run through of a song, or maybe two choruses of GOSBTS and we stop - why?

EXACTLY !!!!!! - Well said

At wycombe the 'we want falmer' to the tune of tom hark worked well because it just kept on going.

i think the only way to generate any kind of atmosphere at Withdean is to make 2 blocks a "singing section" with unreserved seating.
if the seats were unreserved, big groups of mates can sit together and someone can start a song knowing that people will join in.
in the current situation where the seats are specified, people that might start a song are surrounded by people that are only there to watch the game, this means that a song never takes off. even if the singers are quite close together (maybe 5 or 6 seats along, or a couple of rows infront, there is always a doubt in your mind if you start singing.

if you look at away games, even if the seats are specified, no one sits where the ticket says, they just sit with their freinds, whereever they want in the stand. some how this makes it a better atmosphere

another idea is to locate the singing section in blocks A and B, this means that we are nearer the away fans and may spark a frenzy of loud passionate singing.
if the extra seats are put in then the singing section will be fine where it is.
