BG, It's the fact you voiced it on this thread that makes it material.

As it happens, I would normally agree with you regarding the adulation of players who are paid very handsomely for what they do. But not THIS player.

He has given more back to the Club and Community than anyone I can think of (Apart from Tony of course)

I wouldnt argue with that summing up of him but fan adulation of any player and having a meal in his honour is not for me doesnt matter who the player is. I would possibly lean towards one for an old timer if they hit hard times like Norman Gall but not a modern player earning as much or more in a month than most people paying for the meal earn in a year.

I asked Calde who I should vote for as player of the season.

Without hesitation he said Bruno or Dale

Went on to explain that he doesn't think everyone appreciates how vital Dale Stephens is to the side.

He hasn't been mentioned as a contender elsewhere, and in our part of the WSU we think he's not had a great season, but I defer to Calde. He knows a sight more than me about football. I've only been watching for 45 years and never kicked a ball.

So, Dale Stephens.... you heard it here first

I bet Superphil loves this ;)

Nobody was forced to buy a ticket BG.

Yes he earns a shit load of money, more than I will ever earn. But on the other hand, he gives up his spare time helping others less fortunate than himself, WILLINGLY.

But why the snidey little dig about him perhaps not having his contract renewed IN THIS OF ALL THREADS ? ???

I am sure the club will want to offer him something. .. though I think in his shoes, I would probably want to return to the sun and culture of his home region.... he will be sadly missed...

Simply because I like to know what happens to all ex BHA players the fact that I dont go into fan adulation for any player is totally immaterial.

Bollocks.

It's none of your business. If you're not interested in saying 'well done' or 'thanks', what right do you have to demand of him what he's doing next?

This post is proof that you really don't get it.

Thunder Bolt

Silly old bat
Southampton definitely offered him a contract, which he turned down, to come back to us. He met Alan Pardew, & said he was a 'nice man'.
I laughed and told him that Pardew hates Brighton. I listed the times that we have got the better of him, starting with Reading coming 2nd in the league title 01/02, Butter's headed winner at West Ham, Gus's first game in charge beating Southampton 3-1, and Newcastle in the FA cup two years running. He loved that.
I said my hope was that Pardew stays at Palace, and we get promoted so that we can beat him again.

Can I use my 'politics of envy' comment in here?

You would never find me at such an event as I pay to watch players play for Brighton for which they are handsomely paid not socialise with them but I am glad that all who attended it enjoyed it. Each to their own. Did he mention what he was going to do when he was inevitably released at the end of the season,.
I've been forced to downgrade my opinion of you, yet again. It was difficult.
