A little bit of snow and they are just not prepared despite the same scenario just 8 Months ago, what is wrong with some people?

8 months ago Trains were delayed, motorways blocked and buses not moving and despite that, regular commuters did not prepare despite a 3 or 4 day warning that this weather was forecast.

Did the commuters have there snow chains ready? No
Did the commuters have alternative Accommodation planned if there job was important? No
Did the office workers have arrangements to take 3 or 4 days work home or work from home on their computer. Not many.

Very poor planning and communication, despite this same thing happening just 8 months ago!, their job may be important to this country yet they show this reckessness and disregard to expert advice, very very poor and these companies and persons should be hauled over the coals.

I agree - And the people who are moaning about the lack of gritting, problems with the rail network etc are probably the same ones that think government is too big, taxes should be cut and we've become a nanny state....

Why are people getting so worked up about the pitiful snowfall we've had so far? I spent the last 2 winters living in the highlands of scotland, last winter it snowed every day up there from 18th December to 1st March, the snowfall was measured in feet not eighths of inches, and the idea that you'd have a day off work for it, or that the buses wouldn't run, was laughable. No wonder northerners call us southern softies.

Seen it all now. Railway bloke taking the piss out of people who have the not unreasonable expectation that they'll be able to travel fifty miles in a straight line from A to B in not that cold temperatures through not that deep snow. And they wonder why our railways are a laughing stock?
