Wise words.

Expect much worse to come, too. Tough run of games coming up, and we as fans might need to hold the nerve a little bit.

Look forward to all the angry rants, when March fails to nutmeg Van Dijk, and Stephens gets beaten to the ball by Salah.
For March to nutmeg Van Dijk he would first have to be moving forward with the ball at his feet, not something we have seen very often this season.

He doesnt always get grief. Just that he was crap yesterday and people have commented

Yes he does.

He’s the new Barnes.

Plays well - at best grudging acknowledgment

Plays poorly - gets absolutely slaughtered.

Plays ok - still gets slaughtered, as the haters can’t wait to stick the knife in.

The very fact that you think he was ‘crap’ yesterday, says it all.

It frustrates me when people purely use stats to measure Solly’s performance. Yes he has got a decent assists record of late but it’s typically a 95 minute game so for many people it would seem that it doesn’t matter what he does in the other 94 mins of the game ! I agree with others that he definitely looks more comfortable playing on the right. His assists have come from crosses when he’s been in space e.g. a short corner or free kick rolled to him, so this hides the fact that he is still struggling to actually beat a defender and put a good ball into the box and it comes across as lazy to me when he just hits a cross straight at the defender. If people start quoting Beckham as a comparison (because he didn’t take players on) then his skill was to move the ball to give himself space and an angle to whip and cross in round the defender - Solly fails to do this. A problem I have with his general play is his movement off the ball. You see so many times Bernardo getting the ball and Solly moves into an impossible position (or is simply standing still) to make himself available to receive a pass so Bernardo either has to go backwards or sideways.

Duffy is supposedly a considerably better player this season because he's scored a couple of goals.

To be fair, Duffy is anyway because typically his all round performance for the 95 mins is good as he does the full job for the team that he’s paid to do !

But his performances have been almost identical to last year, the only difference being the odd goal.

Yet we still have to read bullshit spouted by the feeble minded who suddenly think he's better because he's scored a few.

Solly gets a ridiculous amount of negativity at the AMEX despite his contribution to the team.
He'll make a ball winning challenge, BEHIND the full back, lay it off, then get jeered for not being in the opposition half.

As for 'hitting the first man', yes that's what happens.
We laud Dunk & Duffy for their defensive work, you realise that comes from the opposition player has invariably 'hit the first man'.

You can't have it both ways.

For God's sake.... Andone, Montoya, Bissouma, Bernado, Dunk, Knocky

Thought you might be clutching at strawers.

Bissouma played ten minutes! Tried to do exactly what you are sounding out March for, couldn’t and should have been booked for a dive
Knockaert was far less effective than March and got subbed as a result. Took on players, but only when going sideways
Andone had 35 minutes. A lot of effort, granted.
Montoya? Really?

Dunk and Bernardo did have very good games.

March is our best winger. Some people need to get a grip.

And therin lies the problem. He is not a winger. He plays the old fashion outside right/ left position. That is why hughton likes him as he is very quick to slot into the packed midfield to try and stifle the opposition play makers.

We now have three out and out wingers in knocky Izzy and aliJ and with AliJ back fit, I think he will feature more and more.

Don't get me wrong I love knocky , however he is a very greedy moody player who blows hot and cold. He is very quick to go down and as seen by the east terrace where he was trying to conn the ref by suggesting he had been elbowed, when the Chelsea player did nothing of the sort...when it all got heated he leapt up like a salmon and it was a Lazarus moment...a sheer miracle at Christmas time. Praise be to the little baby jeeezus.

Except when he does . His assist and cross for Glenn v Man Utd .
'Solly March - man of the match - was everywhere for Brighton - particularly in the first half - and provided a brilliant cross for Glenn Murray's opener"

The old outside left or right as you call , is in fact playing either as a right winger or a left winger ,

I stand corrected...what was johhny Giles position called? It may have been half back, but that didn't seem to be right. I see solly as that sort of position.

The same 11 that just put City to bed and so called supporters are having a dig drives me nuts. We have improved from last season to pull apart individual performances is just wrong. Dale made a few clangers fair enough but also thought he was pinging the ball about very well in the first half. If you look at their goals one was a lucky bounce of Balagon that could of gone anywhere and the other was a far superior team breaking from one mistake. IMO CH didn’t get it wrong he knows Murray is very capable of scoring 7 times out of ten which would of given us something to build on if he had. Games don’t always go to plan just ask Pep who got turned over last week.

Reluctantly getting involved in this thread. Year after year I desperately hope that the promise will blossom into consistency but it doesn't. Where are these "frightening" things that Muzza sees on the Training Ground? Do we need to bring in a short term specialist coach to mould and get the best out of Solly (and perhaps our other wide players) such as Giggs? Just putting it out there....
